I just bought a "Can O Crickets" from Suncoast a couple of weeks ago. I opened them last week and fed a few. My Babies loved them....but when I opened them again last night, they were molding, rotten and stinky. Yuck! The can didn't say they needed to be refrigerated or anything. They weren't in a hot location and we have air conditioning. They were just sitting beside the cage. What did I do wrong? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nixweiss.gif" alt="" />

Once they`re opened, they only last a few days. Whenever I use these things, I put them in a freezer baggie and freeze them right away after I open the can, that way they can last as long as you like. I did the same thing as you did last year when I bought them for the first time. We all learn as we go along I guess.

I made the mistake too. Good God, that was a smell that you don't forget! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

Lesson learned. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumb.gif" alt="" />

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming
WOOOO HOOOO, WHAT A RIDE!!!

Can O Crickets specifically says on the label to Refrigerate after Opening.

Okay, I hit 40 and I can't see small print. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/roflmao.gif" alt="" /> LOL. Thanks. I will know in the future. That'll teach me to not let the kids read it TO me. Or, suck it up and put on the glasses. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

LOL The print is pretty tiny. The manufactuers should make something so important larger but maybe they hope to sell more that way. Grrr
