It seems like I’ve had gliders forever. About 27 years or so. I’ve had so many through my home both as personal gliders and as rescues. The most at one time was 55 gliders in 26 cages. Took up two rooms. That many was just a short few weeks while we lined up homes and set up railroads. Many of them I took to Kentucky to Bourbon who housed them short term while new owners met her there. Some of these babies then traveled down to Florida. Over the years I’ve had well over 400 gliders pass through my home. My oldest lived to just shy of 15 years.

I’ve had some very special gliders. Reepicheep being the one that completely stole my heart and took a big piece with him when he passed. My little hermaphrodite, Sprite who was the first glider we know of to have had a pin put into her broken back leg…saving the leg. My big boy Sebastian. He was such a lover and cuddle bug. So very many.

Anyway…my life with gliders is coming to an end. I have one lone glider left. She is alone and I’m afraid very sad. I spend as much time with her as my lungs will allow. (She triggers my breathing issues. Lung disease is no joke). I’ve tried to find her a friend or even a new home where she would have a cage mate and companions but no luck. So she’ll stay here with me.

I’m not sure how much time I will have with her as she is over 9 now. Some days she is as sprite as a one yr old. Other days…. And sadly the other days are becoming more frequent. Being a glider slave is an experience I treasure and I would never trade. It’s going to be heartbreaking when the final day comes. Each baby I rescued renewed my love for gliders. Each baby I’ve buried has chipped away at my heart.

Hang in there everyone and enjoy the ride.

Judge not until you have walked in their shoes and lived their lives. What you see online is only part of the story.

I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance

Glad to see you're still around. If you were closer I would get your girl a cage mate. I have several her age in the sanctuary.

Mary, suggiebabylover, and I bought a house together this year. We are feeding around 70 gliders.
I t is nice that they are all downstairs. The basement is 3/4 finished, so the gliders and the parrots are downstairs away from the cats.

Hope you continue to do well.

So very glad to hear from you, Teresa. I have thought of you often and wondered how you were doing. Miss seeing you on FB. Sometimes that is the only way us ole timers have to reconnect these days agree
As I'm sure you have noticed, things around here have slowed considerably which is not a surprise. There is still some activity but not like the old days, right?
Hope you stay well, and we hear from you again.

Wow! 27 years is a very long time!
I've only been at this for 9 years, but like you, we wouldn't trade them for anything. I'm not sure if I'm up for another 18 years, but only time will tell.

So good to hear from you!
