Yesterday his eye was just fine but when i suddenly woke up from my sleep and decided to check on my joeys. One of them have this white gunky object in his eye which has similar consistency to snots. He lives with another male glider who is older than him. They don't fight very often and their cage is cleaned regularly. He's also 2 years old now. So could it be injuries from scratches? Or is it an infection? I don't bother to wipe or do anything with it because i might cause further damage to his eye. It's around 2 am right now and I won't be able to see the vets until 8-10am due to my time zone. So i'd like to ask if any of you guys have had a similar issue like this and what can i do before taking him to the vets and also what could've been done to prevent it? Also he shows a sign of annoyance and irritation from it and seems to have a worsen vision. He's very grouchy and won't let me handle him often due to his past (Yes! i rescued him when he was around 7 months old) but now i can handle him for some reason.

You can carefully try to remove the gunk with a soft cloth and warm water. I wouldn't mess with it too much. Don't pull on it just softly wipe a few times. Mine have gotten fuzz on their eye before and it does annoy them. If vet visit is needed, be sure they check his teeth as well as his eye. Sometimes a bad tooth can be the cause if vet rules out eyes look good. Please register and log in. We care and want to make sure he's OK. Once you log in and reply, we can fix the post to include your name as the author. I hope he's OK.
