A few months ago, I noticed Exotic Nutrition was now offering bags of dried mango and papaya treats. Quite a bit more convenient than slicing and dicing the fruit myself -- particularly since I only have 2 gliders now and they can only eat so much. In the time since, they have gone absolutely nuts for these treats as well as the nectar pods.

They MAY poke their heads out when I put the regular food out but if I stand by the cage and grab a bag of either the mango or papaya (they seem to recognize the sound of the bag), Nala (my female cinnamon) will come straight out and just bounce around the cage in excitement, searching all the usual hiding spots for the fruit bits. Reuel (male ringed plat) has always been more tentative (still won't crawl on me) but he absolutely will come out for the fruit treats and nectar pods.

I may have to buy a second nectar pod holder for them because Nala is food-possessive and crowds Reuel out from the pod when I put one out.

To be clear, I only use the pods as an occasional treat and the dried fruit treats as a supplemental to the regular daily food.

Interestingly, neither of them seems to like dried mealworms. My previous gliders loved mealworms, live or dried, but these 2 turn their noses up at them. I've kept some in a small feeding dish as a treat and they just won't touch them at all. It's been a while since I've fed them live ones so perhaps they just don't recognize the dried ones as food.

They most definitely are recognizing the sounds that the bags are making, mine were the same, LOL! My three that have passed were all mealie lovers, but Morgana (who is still with me) wants nothing to do with them, live or dried. Some gliders are just picky. dunno
