My little Sneaker used to be the one to snatch mealies right out of my hand and eat as many of them as he could get. The past few months or so, however, he has showed no interest in them. Sometimes I'll give him one and he'll take it, chew on it or bite it, then drop it. I don't know if he even eats any of them when I leave them in the cage at night. (That's ok if Miss Priss eats them all though bc she has joeys oop any day now!! ) I had the bowl of mealies out this morning to feed them, and he wouldn't even take one. I gave him a few flakes of oatmeal instead, and he really likes that. What should I do? Has anybody else ever had a glider just stop liking mealies? I thought that was their favorite!

They sometimes suddenly decide that they don't like something that they loved. You could offer him other forms of protein such as boiled/baked chicken or turkey breast, eggs etc. Maybe he would like a change for a while

Ok you say that he would take one and bite it but then not eat it. Could he not like the taste of those worms you got. I was thinking about this. What the worms are fed seems like should make them taste different. Mealworms that are in oatmeal and fed the occasional potato, seems like they should taste different than those that re kept in oatmeal and bran flakes and fed the occasional carrot. I have no idea, but it seems like it should make a difference. What do you think?

They are on Pricilla's diet. Some nights they get scrambled eggs and other nights they get chicken. I usually either give them the mealies when I give them their dinner, or I wait an hour or more and then give them the mealies so they eat their other food and don't fill up on mealies. I first noticed this when I would take away their food in the morning and there would be left over mealies. That was kind of a shocker. I then started cutting back on mealies until there were not any left over in the morning. Last night I decided to wait until the morning to give them mealies. Miss Priss and the gliders in my other cage scarfed down their mealies, and Sneaker had no interest. On the nights I feed mealies, should I just try to take him out and feed him a little scrambled egg, chicken, or yogurt and then put him back in? There are no other eating changes. I keep my worms in the fridge in oatmeal. I take them out every so often for a day. Depending on what I have, I either put carrots or potatoes in there. I don't think that would make a difference on how they taste. The worms don't eat that much of the veggies. It's just so weird bc he used to snatch them out of my hand.

I offer mealies in the morning- because if I offered them at night- that means less of their regular diet got eaten. There are times I will offer mealies at night because of hectic mornings- I offer them a few hours before their regular wake up time. If he's not showing any other signs of changes, they may have just gotten old on him right now- you can offer the extra eggs or extra chicken or maybe even try other bugs. Can o insects crickets or catapillars are great or freeze dried crickets or waxworms (only offer 2-3 on the waxworms).
