KattyM you say your no expert, but you and all the mod’s here on GC have turned my head in the right direction. I can thank a lady I e-mailed a question to about my boys, *SUZ’S SUGAR GILDERS* she told me about GC. GC please hurry with that diet page so us BML for DUMMIES will quit asking all these questions. LOL

Well, no expert here either... but I will tell you that the mealies are fed to aid in their dental hygiene... cleaning their teeth. The glider moms and dads that don't feed the meailies or any other insect, usually have a glider safe tree branch in the cage for the same purpose of the mealworms (which is recommended) ... mealworms are considered the insect portion of the diet, and as stated, not a "must do". However, those eyes, the chirping the sound of pure happiness when they chew the wigglies is just indescribable! I think my gliders would overtake me at their earliest convenience ....do a glider mutiny on me, if I took them away at this stage in the game!! Oh and I'm blushing from your post!!

Well, mine get their morning mealies... that's after the night of foraging their Back to Basics BML... so they've had their nutritional food by the time the mealies are given. Depending on the size of your mealies.. The rule of thumb is: Small to medium mealworm: feed 5 to 7 Medium to large mealworms: feed 3 or 4 Large or Jumbo mealworms: feed 2 to 3 Superworms (which are huge!): feed only 1 Also, please know to those that are feeding different diets this does vary, and this is just the general rule with BML. here's a picture that may help you with what size you have: Mealworm Sizes Picture

Actually, I was using the fresh. On a whim I tried frozen....THEY LOVE THEM! lol Go figure! Still not to thrilled with the green beans, but I will keep trying! I only give them a couple of pieces of corn (frozen) as they love it, but where they are up and down with the BML some nights, I am trying to balance it out. They seem healthy, so I think we are doing alright. I usually put some yogurt on top to get them to eat all their BML (with Gidget having a joey in pouch, she needed the extra calcium anyway).
