2 twins born 04/10. the one seems to be growing normal and seems healthy.. The other is extremely smaller. Did he not yet hit his growth spurt? Mom is feeding and taking care of him. Should I take him from mom? I am scared this is their third set of babies and i have never had a problem. Please help.. Thanks!!!

If mom is still caring for them, I would just supplement both joeys. Sometimes if mom is low on milk, she will pick the healthiest and let it eat first. Then there is nothing left for the littler one. If you suppliment both of the joeys, the bigger one will be more full and hopefully leave some of mom's milk for the little one. Keep a close eye on it too... there is always a chance it will be rejected.

The bigger joey is able to spend some time away from mom at the age it is at. You could take the larger one out for some time during the day to allow the smaller one some time to feed. You could also supplement the larger one while it's out with you so that it isn't as hungry and is less likely to bully the smaller out of mom's milk.

Supplement the largest joey during the daytime if possible...leaving the smaller one to suckle off of the mother.

The larger joey may be pushing the smaller one off...thus the smallest may not be getting his full share of milk.

There is a sticky...Post with a Yellow Tack here in this forum.....as how to supplement a joey. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
