I'm a private person by nature, so I have been lurking around GC for about 6 months, gleaning knowledge from others' posts and a bit of anonymous work. So it is with weeping eyes and a heavy heaart that my first post here on GC is so sad, I feel horrible and don't know what I did wrong. My 1 1/2 year old Momma Lilo and Papa Stitch have killed their second litter of joeys, with no previous signs of rejection. They were little less than 10 days out of pouch, and Clyde's eyes were just beginning to open. I found their remains at the bottom of the cage when I went to say good evening to all of them, as Lilo and Stitch were just waking up. Lilo hadn't rejected them 4-5 hours previous to wake-up when I was bonding with them, with their pouch tucked under my shirt. Maybe it was the new environment. I received Stitch and Lilo, with joeys IP, just over a month ago, but she seemed to bond nearly immediately to me, though Stitch has only recently even allowed me the pleasure of him sitting on my shoulder without him taking flight at even small and slow head movements. Neither have ever crabbed at me, and both love it when I handfeed them crickets. I know that I could not have loved their joeys more, it was so hard to stick to only 15 minutes a day to check them over and take pictures of their developement. I do not love Lilo and Stitch any less, I just do not fully understand those vagaries of nature that allow human mommas such grief over gliders decisions, whether voluntary or not. Stitch is being neutered this week, to prevent anymore joey deaths, and to prevent my heart from being broken again this way. My own life story includes losing two pairs of twins, so you might say this is hitting me really hard. I know that Bonnie and Clyde are happy where they are, mayhap playing with my human children, and I cannot wait for the chance to know them again when my life is done. I just can't help wondering who they would have become someday. I cannot write anymore, I am crying too hard. Lord and Lady bless Bonnie and Clyde.

I'm so sorry to read this.... When I cross over the Rainbow Bridge myself, this is one of the BIGGEST questions I'm going to have. It's SO difficult to lose little ones so soon after they come into this world...and I know that not every little one is perfect... to you.

I'm so sorry for the loss of the little ones and the pain you're feeling right now. Sending you lots of , prayers, and good thoughts to help you through this. Lilo and Stitch may be feeling a little sad now too, so be sure to give them a little extra love.
