Last Sunday I came home from work and went straight to Aida and Scutter's room. In my eyes we havent bonded so they have been priority when i am at home. I went to their cage, the door was open and they were gone. I became overwhelmingly nauseated. I sat in the floor and said aida's name aloud. Then started saying her name and asking her questions. She walked out from under the couch to me. It then took an hour for the undbonded beauty to let me hold her and place her back in her cage. Scutter my little timid guy was gone. nowhere in the room. Outside of the room the house is riddled with dangers. There are tools and paints and chemicals of all sorts. I resigned myself to the fact that i better find him fast or it would end sadly. It didnt happen. I finally decided he would wake up come night and i would find him easier. 2 hours later I heard barking for the first time. I got out of my bed and proceded to watch scutter fly from one hanger to the next. Again me and my unbonded glider had an hour & 1/2 of please let me hold you and put you back inside your cage. It finally happened. I then went back to bed realizing they wanted nothing more to do with methat day. Then i had a moment, Aida had come to me when called, one glider is definitely on her way to bondedhood. But the other? No way. Then the final evidence to prove me wrong, the barking had come from my bed. There, where i was sleeping were 3 presents a smashed grape (scutter's favorite) and right at my pillow to healthy looking glider poos. I guess if we are sleeping together we are sort of bonded , right?

What a relief!...I'm sooo happy your story had a happy ending...I know what you mean about finding the door of the cage open...I have to latch two latches...If I don't, they could possibly squeeze out...Although, I am always careful, and check the latches often, I have failed to do this a few times, and I get "sick to my stomach" just thinking about what could have happened...Sometimes I'm at work wondering if I latched both latches...Not a good feeling...Yes, I believe you are well on your way to being bonded...
Sassie & Cassie & Baby "JJ"

I think that is a very good sign Aida came out to you. That means she heard you right away and instead of being scared and running away, she came over to see you. She is trusting you more, not enough to let you get her but enough to make a difference. Scutter seems more timid, but the fact that he was in your bed is a good sign too. He may have gotten out and then not known how to get back. Your bed smells like you and even though he may still be afraid of you, at least the scent was familiar to him. So that means you aren't ALL that scary anymore to him!

WHEW! Your story had me scared until the end. I'm so glad things worked out for you, and I'm very happy for you that you've nearly bonded! You must be doing something right, so keep up the good work!!!

I am so happy to hear you found your gliders!! There is nothing worse then that sick to your stomach feeling when you know one of your pets is loose and may get hurt or not be found!! The last two night my daughters hamster became an escape artist and though she may be just a little varment to some she is precious to us and we were so glad to have found her! Funny thing is...our gliders helped us find her LOL ! ( i posted a question about it on the bonding board cuz the situation had me so curious!) Hopefully they won't escape on you again and now that they know you helped them get back to thier "home" they will start to bond iwth you even more!! Rita
