Please ask the vet about putting her to sleep with anesthesia first before the euthanasia is administered... it really will make it much more peaceful for her.

Hun, you're doing the right thing for her. I know your heart is breaking, but she will be at peace and able to pass over to the Bridge without suffering any more.

I am so sorry for all that you have been through.
You made the right decision. And she will tell you that when you meet again at the rainbow bridge. She knows how hard it is for you to let her go, but she will be at peace and waiting for you. Don't worry, just try to stay stong.

She went peacefully; vet nurse and i had a good cry... :o(
my mom got a red rose and i had a 4 leaf clover i found on my way to her grave and we also put in some of her and herman's favorite toys...
her coffin had an angel on it...
Jason has kept me busy to help and has decided to paint a memorial of 2 gliders w/ halos on the walls of the room they were in... i can't wait.
my dogs knew i was sad; Noel put her head on my chest and sat w/ me for a while and Autumn sat next to me watching me... such good doggies.
my parents have already called to check on me at least 3 times.... it would be time to fix Heidi's food and start some play time so it is setting in a little. i'm all cried out now though... i noticed before she went though; one hand was white and small and the other was so dark purple and really swollen and she pulled the hair off around her scent gland.... i just don't know what went wrong...
i sang to her the whole way to the vet and told her when she woke up from her nap she would be feeling better and Herman would be waiting for her to show her around...
the vet was telling her that her husband would be there when she woke up as she was sedating her... they were really good with both me and her today; i even got a private room to sit in w/ her both before and after she was gone just so i could be alone with my thoughts and her and not feel "watched"

a memorial is a beautiful idea.

i'm glad to hear she went peacefully, i'm again sorry for your loss, i will keep you in my prayers, eventually it will get better, but for now it's going to be rough and very trying and let it out. the memorial sounds like a beautifull way of remembering her!

Heidi and Herman are at peace and completely healthy again. Think of the joy of their reunion You will feel her loss for a very long time - let the good memories flood you when the pain gets too great... that's what I do when I think of Pika & Cricky

I am so, so sorry. I am crying all over the keyboard, your story has brought to mind the loss of my sweet babies. I know the pain you feel is unbearable, but you made the right decision. It is so hard, but you did the right thing making her way easier. You may call me at any time tomorrow...(205)441-8205 I will be getting a new cell phone sometime after lunch, please if you need to vent, cry or just to talk you may call me anytime, even long into the future. The grieving process is long, but remember your good times with Heidi, and know that you did the wright thing... and you will see her again. When that day comes it will seem like you never parted.

I sat up for a while last night looking at all of her stuff....
i felt like even though she wasn't there; i still needed to put food in there for her....it was an awful feeling.

Chronos hit me the hardest of all of mine (d. 3.21.07). Apparently it also hit my 17 year old pretty hard. When Binx had his surgery (removal of anal glands) that we had been considering for Chronos, who had the same issue, Cole started it, but on the way home post op from the vet, and on/off since we both keep calling Binx Chronos!! We've NEVER mixed up glider names! My son got upset one day after we'd done it 3 or 4 times in a row and said "Mom, can we rename him Chronos or something!!??" (meaning Binx). Of course we can't, but I know how he feels. These tiny little animals rip a piece of your heart and take it with them when they leave us. It takes time for the bleeding to stop-but it DOES stop. Then you're left with all the good memories, and able to picture them at the Bridge without it hurting so much.

The memorial sounds beautiful, you've got a good family there helping you through this sad time. Remember all of the happy time with Heidi and all the cute memories. We're all here for you, and many of us know what you are going through.
