The entire front part of my cage is made of thick, guitar string-like nylon. It's easy to clean and it's pretty much strung like a tennis racket netting over a frame. I found the great stuff from an old fishing net.

No better place to find the sissy pouch than from SweetAndSourSugargliders. Alicia is the original maker of the Sissy Pouch and you won't be sorry.

I think he/she meant that he/she wasn't sure if nylon or aluminum (i.e. "these") were ok for a sugar glider cage, because he/she was planning on making a cage and he/she needed to know what to make it out of.

Gliderlover012, if you go under the GC links at the top left corner of the page, you will find a page containing links on cage building that may be of assistance.

[:"blue"] Mikey: I reread the original post and I think your interpretation is correct.....thanks.

In answer to the question, both nylon and aluminum have potential problems. Your best bet is to stick with the PVC coated hardware cloth that is the overwhelming choice of cage builders and cage buyers. Aluminum will corrode after a while and the nylon is at risk to chewers. If you are willing to live with either of those problems, I guess you could try them.

The corrosion problem with aluminum might possibly lead to UTI problems as have been described as resulting from galvanized cages. This is shear speculation on my part as UTIs from aluminum cages has never been reported to the best of my knowledge. On the other hand almost no one uses aluminum cages so we really have no experience in this area to fall back on. I would suggest that if you want to use aluminum that you try screen. The diamond mesh expanded metal material has lots of minute sharp edges that could be very bad for gliders. [/]
