Do you have the inbreeding coefficients on other Leus? I could dig up pedigrees and do it myself but that would take forever. I'm interested to see what other Leus' %'s are like.

OK, I'm pretty sure you already know this...but you know if you are pairing him to a WF with no leu in her lines, you will not get any leus, right?

You are just planning on selling the 100% leu hets?

I'm sure if you are well-versed enough in genetics to know about inbreeding coeffecients you know how the leu gene works, but just wanted to double check wink

I am by no means an expert on the leu lines, but I believe some of the lines may have lower inbreeding coefficients than the others. While some are obviously not bothered by that brother-sister pairing as I have seen other threads about people buying gliders from that line, it personally concerns me to see a line continued that is so inbred. I am glad to hear at least that you are breeding him out to a WF that has no leu background.

It sounds as though you have a lot of experience in genetics. I personally would love to know more about the lines of leus and what is being done to breed them "out" and reduce inbreeding. (Not for breeding purposes; I will never breed, but because of a longstanding interest I have in genetics and maintaining healthy gene pools).

Mine is zero, the leu babies I will produce are zero, my friend's three are all zero...

If you type in the names of any leus you can think of, if they are registered, it gives the coefficient right in the pedigree.

Right, the offspring he produces with the unrelated WF female will also be zero.

7glider7- Yes, I know that the leucistic gene is recessive. wink

Lauren,

As of right now, the plan is to put him in a quad with 2 WF sisters (non-leu lines) and 1 66% leu het.

I was under the same impression by this post. But then again, I don't know what other gliders you have either. dunno

I never knew how you figured out the coeffeicient % that's rather neat.
