I've seen posted on the site a few times about how people glider proof the bathroom before taking them in for some bonding time. We have a tent for the girls but sometimes I just dont have the energy to put it up. (I know it's sad...I'm lazy!!) So I thought I would try the bathroom time. My only concern is what do I need to change in the bathroom as far as safety for them. I know I probably need to put the lid down on the toilet...but is there anything else that could be dangerous for them? I just wanted to ask before I tried the bathroom time.
Thanks, Erin

Just look for anything they might get stuck in, injest (eat) or get hurt on. Put away the soaps. Never leave them in the bathroom alone. Even with the toilet lid down, they can still squeeze through and fall in the toilet.

Judge not until you have walked in their shoes and lived their lives. What you see online is only part of the story.

I could have missed the pain

check the gap under the door. And lay down and look under cabnits. In a lot of bathrooms the carpenters cheat on cabnits by leaving gaps or holes on the underside of them.

Any sharp implements that they could land on when they jump from the shower curtain needs to go away. Anything that they could hurt themselves on. Cover plugs, put away curling irons, take the trash can out.

It is always a good idea if there is a bathtub, to put some kind of padding in the bottom of it. Actually a large blanket draped over the side wouldn't hurt either. As agile as they are, they do sometimes fall and for a glider to splat on the hard tub is not a good thing!

Mine always got excited running across the shower curtain rod and sure enough one or two have fallen and hit the tub. They can get seriously injured falling on the hard tub. I have mine covered in one of the cheapy pink foam mattress pads they sell in Walmart or dollar stores. A pain to take on and off if you use your tub, but at least some thick bath mats over the sides would help as well as in the bottom.
