I was wanting to compile a list of people who would be willing to "glider-sit" for other glider owners. I know it's hard to find people who are knowledgeable about gliders in your area sometimes (it is for me!). I thought it would be beneficial to have a list of people who have already agreed to consider glider-sitting for people in their area.

This is a really good idea. I was just discussing this with my boyfriend last night. We are worried about moving to a new state and not knowing anyone. And wondering how difficult it would be around the holidays to visit family and find someone who could watch the gliders if we needed.

I hope to get a gigantic list, almost more of a database. You just can't drop your gliders off at any pet-sitter so we all need to know who is available!

Keep sending your info! It's going to take awhile to gather a decent amount.

Are you going to make sure that everyone who sends a response is capable? Or will that be up to the person looking for a sitter?

I'm assuming you could probably look up the one's in your area and get together with them to meet or whatever prior to leaving your babies with them to make sure your comfortable with them and that their capable and their Gliders are well cared for. I'm assuming those that are here are here for the right reasons and have the best interest of their Gliders at heart, they would have the best network of help available! LOL!

It's going to be up to the person looking for the sitter. There's really no way I can go through some sort of "testing" for every person that sends me their info. This is merely a way for a person to get in contact with someone who could be a potential sitter.

I looks like it hasn't had any activity for a while (except for a post I just made!), but maybe getting it brought back up will get some new activity there.

It really is nice to know ahead of time that there is someone who will be able to care for your babies if the need arises.

Here's a question.. what about people in states where gliders are illegal? Obviously nobody wants to condone that, but there are people who still have gliders despite the laws and would people living in those states be included as well?
(I'm not in an illegal area, but I wonder if there are people who are that would still offer to care for a glider in that area)

The glider sitters site is only a site for reference- it's not a chat forum- so the activity on it comes and goes based on when new people register their information. I try to post a bulletin about the glider sitter site every few months for reminders that the list is available.

Anyone else interested? I only have 6 names!
