You know what my issue is..I posted earlier a few days ago about my experience with (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets...well I left off a few things that I wanted to add... The genetlemen that was the primnary sales person was very nice and I didn't really talk with the teenage boy. I talked to the older man quite a bit...my issue is he seemed genuine at every thing he said. I an finding it hard to believe that he would mislead people intentionally. Is possible that these sales people are just uneducated by the people who own the company? I mean I am not taking up for them by any means, if they are knowingly scamming people and mistreating the babies. I mean I wonder what type of training they receive..do they read the sugar glider books that are out there? Since they claim everything on the internet is hearsay...

Unless you have more than 1 email address...we can do a lot of things to not be identified..have friends email for us, etc..We don't have anything to hide on the 'net...however, their little "family circle"...oh buy from them and THEN you have access to all their "secret" information?? No, they know they are slinging BS to people and people like us don't buy into their false or inaccurate and outdated information. This forum helps anyone and everyone regarding care for suggies..it's not about the almighty dollar. Personally I don't care if they do come here and read all this...I hope they do. They know we are onto them and their big mistake is to underestimate people like us who have a genuine concern for suggies and their well being...something they have never had, obviously. And just because the owner of (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets or whatever his "title" is, is filthy rich...doesn't mean jack to me. Ever hear the phrase "the bigger they are the harder they fall?" Noone is above the law...up until this point no one has never really seriously given any thought on busting them...now we are. And I'll fight as long as I have to...

Buttercup, you're missing the point of my post....I don't CARE if they come here and read either. I am also aware how email works....I'm just saying, sometimes it's not a good idea to put everything out in the open and maybe surprise them just a bit. ANYONE who knows me in the glider community knows I have NO problem telling people what I think of them.....LOL
And GourmetGuru, to answer your question. I'm sorry to say that yes, they do indeed know what they're saying is wrong. Why else would they immediately threaten to have people removed instead of simply answering questions asked of them? I know when I began questioning them, it was not in a malicious way and they FREAKED OUT and it was the same man you are referring to.

Suggiemom...I didn't mean anything negative in my post with what you were saying about emailing...I knew what you meant...the element of surprise is always a good thing I agree. I'm sorry...

Hi everyone....NEWBIE here!! I actually started doing some research on this subject after visiting their booth at the Miami-Dade County Youth Fair, here in Miami. Boy, am I glad I did. I'm still VERY interested in becoming a new 'daddy' to a sugie or 2 (or 3?!)...but will go about in a different manner now (through a reputable breeder). I also happen to be a local law enforcement officer, so I can help answer your 'recording/taping' questions. Per Florida law, you cannot record another person without their knowledge, especially if the person has a reasonable expectation of privacy (in their own home, calling THEM, at THEIR place of business, etc) UNLESS you are an active participant in a lawful investigation. When we conduct stings and use 'wires' we get investigative warrants/wire tap confirmations signed by judges. I hope this helps - and although the law is somewhat vague I want to make sure that you dont get in trouble. I do sympathize with you - but I suggest leaving the recording/tapping to an investigative reporter (for a news station) or law enforcement (perhaps contacting the FWC - FLorida Wildlife Commission?!) In the meantime, I am glad I found this site and hope to gather as much info as I can before adding new members to my family!

In Kansas, taping a phone conversation IS legal as long as ONE person involved in the conversation knows it is being recorded.
Meaning...I'm talking to suggiemom and recording the conversation. I do not have to tell her it is being recorded and it is legal.
But...Kate can't put a wire tap on my phone and record the conversation between suggiemom and me without either of us knowing. That would be illegal unless she has a court order permitting the wire tap.

Would it be possible to collect a sample w/o buying a suggie? I'm sure it wouldn't be TOO hard to come by a dropping of some sort around there - maybe multiple. If you could get that, immediately take to a vet to be tested and prove it was tainted or the suggie it was from was sick, it's logical that many if not all are sick since it's so contagious. Or is this another dead end? Anyone?

Per Florida law, you cannot record another person without their knowledge, especially if the person has a reasonable expectation of privacy (in their own home, calling THEM, at THEIR place of business, etc) UNLESS you are an active participant in a lawful investigation. I thought that was pretty much the law all around? But - regardless ... would a booth in the middle of a busy flea market be considered "reasonable expectation of privacy"? I would think it would be fair game.

That was my thinking as well Alden. I mean, if it were in his home, etc I can understand the "expectation of privacy", but when you're in a crowded expo center or fair ground and speaking to hundreds, perhaps thousands of people, it wouldn't seem logical to expect privacy?
Regardless, because we don't know for sure, we should all try to find out in our area what we'd be allowed to do and what we wouldn't be allowed to do, legally.
Actually, Peta has helped me with some information in the past regarding legal protests, etc. And, speaking of PETA, how are they able to get their videotaped expose's, etc??

to whom it may concern. I have been talking with some people here and told them I would keep them informed. I purchased 2 gliders from (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets at the florida state fair. I was told a6 weeks later that they were not on the up and up to check out glider central. Since then I have taken my babies to the vet. They checked out great. No giardia or under weight. The only thing my vet could find wrong is they might be on the lower end of the age they said they were. We were told that they were between 8 and 12 weeks old when we got them. He thinks they were closer to the 8 week oop age then the 12 week age. Solely because of their weight. (a little on the small size, but very healthy.) He aslo checked his vet linked web page to see if there was any complaints on (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets, in the link that he used with vets world wide. Believe it or not, they do not have any complaints listed. WOW!!!!!!!!!!! My vet has recommeded that we only use "Glid R Chow" in an emergency that no other food is available and gave me a new diet to try them on. If anyone would like to add anything to this..... please feel free to PM me or put it in writing here. Thanks so much for everyones great concern for me and my loving little creatures.

I am glad your babies are ok. I think them selling them so young is a big problem, as the stress of going from one place to another can cause some gliders to get sick, as well. That was part of the complaints, they are selling these gliders way too young. I am very happy your babies seem to be ok and pray that is how it stays! No one is trying to say things that are not true. We are all here for the welfare of ALL GLIDERS and want what is best for them.

I'm so glad your babies checked out ok. I know you've already fallen in love with them. Consider yourself among the lucky, but maybe it's because you share a closer bond to (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets than anyone else here due to your ability to speak with them by phone on a regular basis and to see them at venues where you travel. I think with them babysitting your babies while you work is a different situation than anyone else here has experienced and you had a chance to really speak with them and strike up a friendship before purchasing from them. I find it difficult to believe they wouldn't choose healthy gliders for you. I dunno, I hate to be so jaded, but your situation is most definitely not the norm. As you can tell by stories posted here by former customers of (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets, not everyone has been so lucky so while I wish you and your babies all the best, we will continue with our ongoing fight to see them and others like them banned at as many venues across the country as we can. Stick around GC and have some fun though....since you travel quite a bit you may find yourself in a town where they're planning a glider gathering and you'll really enjoy it!

You can email me at gottaluvsuggies@aol.com and I'll send you a flyer that I hand out. You'll have to change the contact information to suit your area. Make sure you list a local rescue group that people can turn gliders into if needed.

I was told that sugar gliders were going to be in the news last night at 12:00 am. Well my friend was able to see the news program. and from what she tells me it was concerning (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets. about how many ppl were buying from the Florida Fair, not knowing what they were getting in to and wanting to get rid of them of thier new suggie!! So now there is a PET SHOP in west palm that are taking in the gliders. Anyone else see this news program?

This sounds like a good oppertunity for someone who lives in the area to contact this news station and encourage them to do a follow-up, investigative, "troubleshooter" type story. If they go for it, it would be good media exposure for all of the issues being discussed on this board about the problems (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets creates. If someone mentions the words "glider mill" to this news station right now they might just bite because I think all of America is tuned into pet "mills" right now because of Operah's special on puppy mills this week. News stations like to report on news that they think will get people to watch, right? Before people might not have cared as much but if they intro the story with how it relates to the Operah show they would get a lot more viewers.

(PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets is currently at the local fair here in Miami, FL. I actually just bought one on Monday. I had no idea about their reputation until now but i will take good care of my glider. The vendors here is the bald guy and a lady (his wife). Anyone know any good vets in the Miami area that know about sugar gliders?
