We are gearing up for our second set of gliders (we had a great pair about 8 years ago that we had to get rid of, and always wanted to have gliders again.).

Anyway, I am pretty handy and built a cage last time, and want to do the same again, however, the space that the gliders' cage will be in really only works if it is not very deep. By that, I mean even 16" is too deep. Width and height are not a problem. Will they hate it being that narrow? If so, I will have to come up with something else, but I am not sure what... Thanks!

16 inches is pretty narrow indeed. I wouldn't suggest anything less then 20 deep. They really need lots of jumping around room. Perhaps you can find an alternative?

Judge not until you have walked in their shoes and lived their lives. What you see online is only part of the story.

I could have missed the pain

I built my own cage too, and I used a rabbit drop tray for the bottom that I found at Rural King for $16.99 and it measures 3 ft. wide and 2.5 ft. deep. It is great! I suggest making a cage after you find what will be on the bottom. :o)

WELCOME TO GC!

I wish I could remember what size our old cage was. Back then, though, there wasn't as much information about how to care for gliders. People were still doing dried cat food and galvanized wire. I made a pretty fancy plexiglass cage with lots of things for them to climb and jump on and while they started out on cat food, I quickly switched to other dry staple that was found to be better for them. I figure that today, about 9 years later, things have changed. Thanks!
