I know I have heard a lot of people say they take their gliders everywhere. I am really scared to take mine anywhere. I don't know how much noise they can take (example: like a shopping mall) I'm terrified that the bonding pouch may swing around and hit something if I'm not careful enough.. or if someone knocks into me she could get squished.

Where do you take your gliders that you feel safe enough too? and what do you carry them in? I live in a house with 2 Great danes who love to lean and press up against you. The bonding pouch I currently have hangs around my hip which is Great Dane hight when they lean up against you.

Help frown

Well there is no need to be scated, just keep an eye on them its just like having a kid but with no back talk.

Mine hardly ever make noise and if they do the I have a few people that want to know what it is.

So take them out it will help you to bone with them. dance

I recommend wearing them around the house a lot before taking them out. I understand about the danes. Do you have a sissy pouch? I really like the fit of those, and they are comfortable too.

I wear a sissy when I take mine out. It doesn''t swing around, so no need to worry about it hitting anything thumb

I also live in a house with two danes.
when they lean on you, step backwards..
danes love to lean, but if you step back every time.
even when they are leaning for love they will learn.

move the pouch to in front of you if they go to lean on you.

I had the same problem after my car accident a few years back. I had two suggies with me in a sissy pouch. I know that isn't the most responsible way to transport them in a car, but I didn't exactly plan on having an accident that evening. My airbags didn't deploy which probably saved them, but that didn't keep me from flipping out when my chest was constricted by my seatbelt and then I hit the steering wheel.

It took me MONTHS before I would take a glider out again. I would only take them if I was walking or had the time and space to CORRECTLY put them in my car for travel. I still only take them if I can hook them into something safe before we head out. I just can't risk it again. I got lucky that both of my babies were completely uninjured.

that alone would make me stop bringing them out with me! I always get freaked out thinking what would happen if i got into an accident right now?! anything can happen at any time tho...its just about being as safe as you can possibly be!

I had Fern in my shirt at the grocery store last night...she is a loud little girl and crabbed loudly as soon as I walked in....she settles back in and was good until we made it into the parking lot again...sometimes they crab, sometimes people look at you funny. I sometimes fake like it is a really odd phone ringer and check my phone...lol.

I take mine with me almost everyday and I work in a school. She settles down and sleeps most of the day. I use a bra pouch. I just let the kids think it is a cell phone when she crabbs. Most of the adults know I have her and are always trying to guess if she is with me for the day.

When I take my boys out I either use a bra pouch or a regular bonding pouch and tuck it into my shirt so that they're tucked in good and there's virtually no "extra" movement from the bag. The sissy is a good idea too, but since I don't have one I have to make do. They also like that there is a window on the front of my pouch so if they get nosey they can peek out.

I wore mine around the house a lot before I started taking her out. I learned her sleeping routine so I could be sure she wouldn't wake up too much.

I just adopted Momo a little bit ago. At this time I am not taking him everywhere. Once he is bonded and I am able to see what his in-pouch daytime habits are, then I will be more comfortable taking him places. Right now, as soon as I get home from work he goes in his pouch and goes with me around the house. So far, so good. Probably another month and I will have his habits 'down pat' and can take him on short trips to the store and work up to all day outings. But right now, I don't want to take him someplace and him flip out at sounds/smells and try to get out of the pouch. We're not yet bonded so he would pay no mind to me and just 'fly' off ! ooo

DITTO! thumb

I think the most important thing is to know your suggie. They're not all the same. I have two - one who will go with me ANYWHERE and not make a peep so long as I don't touch her and let her sleep! roflmao
Kaya on the other hand sometimes goes through a "what's going on" phase. Sometimes she's perfectly fine being plopped in my shirt or pouch and she'll go right into a nice, deep, snuggly sleep. Other times, as soon as she's opened her peepers for TWO SECONDS, she wants to know what's going on, who's there, why mom woke me up, where we're going, etc. She won't climb out (usually) but does love to peep her head out which isn't always convenient (like when you're grocery shopping... with two HUGE BLACK eyes coming out your cleavage... roflmao ) If she's in a zipper pouch she'll bite and pull and freak out til I unzip it so she can gently peep her little face out. It can be frustrating, but it really is too cute smile .

Point is, again, you just need to know YOUR suggies. I, too, was paranoid at first. It was winter when I got Carmella so every time I'd take her out in a zipper pouch, every five minutes I was undoing my coat, jacket, shirt, and pouch to make sure that A: she was still in there and B: she hadn't suffocated or been smushed. They're not as delicate as you think at first, though. They can breath fine in there and while they are small and fragile, a slight bump isn't going to hurt or smash them (like I originally thought!).

And if they make noises - just have fun with it! I like to do a little improv - whatever comes to mind. It's one of me and hubby's favorite games. Whenever one crabs I'll pretend it's my phone, or I'll grab my stomach and be like "WE GOTTA GO", or if I'm wearing a pouch under shirt thus giving me the "prego" look, I'll grab hubbies hand and be like - SHE'S KICKING! Or better yet, pretend you DON'T hear that growling coming from your shirt. No matter what it always gets a response that makes me laugh once I'm in the car. HTH smile
