I have been told that pedialyte stays good for a while and that you don't HAVE to refridgerate it. But after reading the bottle, it says to use within 48 hours and to refidgerate or keep in a cool place?!? I am a little worried b/c I have use it longer that the 48 hours to mix with the HPW for the joeys. The joeys seem to be doing great, so I don't think this has affected them , but does anyone know where I can get the small bottles of it? My Walmart doesn't have them, and at almost $6.00 a bottle, that adds up quick. Thats $42.00 every 2 weeks!!

I read this too.. the things that I have read say stuff like "it contains sugars and will eventually grow bacteria but that won't occur for some time if you keep it refrigerated."
The best rule of thumb is to smell it. Because it will smell slightly alcoholic over time. There is really no reason why to drink it within the next 24 hours.. just don't drink it months later...

An option to avoid using up expensive bottles of pedialite is to get the pedialite pops. You can freeze them & unfreeze just the portion that you are planning on using. As for the other, I don't know that I would keep it unfrozen for more than 48 hours just to be on the safe side.

You can also take the bottles of pedialyte and freeze them in ice cube trays, then put the cubes in a zippy bag. My vet told me this when I had a very sick suggie. Just write the expiration date on the bag.
