Well I didn't want to give an exact inch by inch comperison of exactly how much fleece to use, because what if you mess up or what if spontanous combustion takes place. What then? WHAT THEN!
The Reason that there are 8 tentacles is because the jellyfish is really a spider/bby eating octopus. But the prototype ended up looking more like a jellyfish, so. . .
Sugarbabees: Yeah there are gaps between the body pieces and no I didn't sew them. I figured that they were too small for the gliders to get stuck in, so why kill myself over something so trivial. Yes I am busting your chops, but the end result speaks for it's self.
Hey I did finish the reversable jelly, it just requires more sewing skill and knowledge of the stiches. I wait till school mellows out a bit before I work on thoes plans.

Well, mine does not look like yours....LOL Close though. The pics here looks like there is only 2 sides to the Jellyfish, but mine seems to have three???????? Not sure what I did wrong.

LOL Bust my chops all you want- I don't deny I'm anal
As for spontaneous combustion... if that happens I think we all have more to worry about than fleece measurements! He he!
I brought the jelly in to work this morning to show my mom (family biz) and she ran into the back room & brought back some smaller tubing! I just have to get a smaller male to male connector & I think I'm going to make the circle a LOT smaller so the material is scrunchier looking around it.
LOL I don't like spiders so I'm putting an extra tentacle on from now on!
Cattail... it does have three sides but it's kind of hard to tell... Vimms is more saggy and mine has a mega too-huge circle in it so it's all nice and tight but I'm fixing that. Anyway- it basically makes the shape of a pouch but with three sides- it's just hard to tell in the picture.
By the way- I got a great picture of Chad wearing it as a Rasta hat last night but he absolutely refuses to let me put it on here!

Ok, so I did do it correctly.... I think I will have to saw some more on the jelly part. It is really big for one or 2 gliders. I think I will make another but make the jelly part about an half and inch small all the way around but leave the tenticals the same length.
Thanks again Vimm for sharing it. I can't wait to put it in Zoey's cage to see if she likes it.

See this is the problem when you have no gliders (sniff sniff). So it's hard to judge size when all you have is a dog. Which on a side not the jellyfish work perfectly as a muzzle.

Last night we had 3 of the colony out to play- they LOVED the jelly!!
It was just hanging on my door (like in my picture above... yes... still!) and they just had a ball climbing all over that thing. The tentacles were their favorite part!
We had so much fun watching them go up & down, up & down, swing over to a new tentacle and repeat!
Thanks so much for the instructions- I can't wait to make another one!

I still have to change that tubing. I got the smaller size but can't find a male to male connector
I can't wait to make another one... all I need now is time!

Gosh, I just got my two girls not too long ago, and things have been so hectic--I can't wait to take the time and sit down and make one! Sorry, no pics yet Vimm,

Vimm …. Thanks for sharing.. I don’t know that I will get around to making one but this is definitely going in my <thank you <<<<< for the idea book<<<
I love to see what every one has come up with … and it is so nice that everyone is sharing idea and information …
Vimm, I got mine finished but have no way of putting pics on here. I don't have a digital camera. I just can't seem to give up my 35mm camera. But, I put it in Zoey's cage and for some reason she would not use it. I need to make the jelly part small maybe. She likes to be in small, cramped pouches. If there is too much room she won't use them. So I may try to make it smaller. But, it looks really cool in her cage.
Thanks again for the pattern.

Denise- which way did you hang it in her cage? With the tentacles hanging down or with it so it's like a pouch & then tie the tent. all over?
I have mine just hanging on the back of the door & they liked it that way. I haven't tried the other way. Also, Jupiter wanted nothing to do with it but since I have so many I was bound to find some little crazies that went banana's for it!
By the way Vimm... the girl that is adopting 2 females from me said she wanted to make a jelly too so I'm passing along your instructions! Hope you don't mind!

Can someone send me the instructions? I am trying to get my cage set up for my little guy that is coming in Dec. I want to make sure that he/she is happy.

I hung it upside down from the top of the cage, in the center and let a few legs hang and stretched some legs to the sides of the cage, but she would not even climb on the legs. But, it really filled the cage and she likes to have room to move, she get upset if I have too many things in her cage.

Woohoo!! This jelly is Chads... he picked out the fabric and everything!! I forgot to take a close up pic- but along the bottom edge of the jelly pouch part I attached some of those little dingly ball thingies.
I think I've seen them hanging on old lady's lamp shades before (sorry if anyone has these on their lamp !)
This jelly took me forever & almost made my sewing machine explode!! It's as seamless as I could possibly make it... so each panel of the pouch is 2 pieces of fabric and at some points there's as much as 6 layers!
