Is there anyone else that can take her? Could you go in a little late? I would get her in as soon as you can, so she can be put on antibiotics. The thing with any type of wound, they can go from licking to doing real damage quickly, so it is always good to get an ecollar on, esp. if you cannot be there to watch her. Any chance you could drop her off and pick her up later? I know she will be stressed, but that way, they can clean it and get a collar on her. Good luck with her. Praying she heals up quickly.

For now, put some Neosporin (without the pain meds/analgesic) on the sore spot. Hold the glider for a few minutes so she can't lick it while it absorbs in, then put her back in her cage. Definitely call the vet and make an appointment to have her checked out, just to be safe

Hopefully your boyfriend will be able to take her in. If not, is there any way you can take her to work with you? That way you could keep an ear open for her waking up. If not, then at least call the vet to find out if they have late hours at all - I know my vet does a couple of times a week

I'm not sure if you can use cortisone cream on a glider or not

Yes, just the regular Neosporin (not the Neosporin Plus). Hopefully she'll be fine and you'll be able to get her in after work

Hope you can get her in to a vet when you get home. If she's got a playmate in the cage with her it may have been caused by rough play. After you see the vet you should check the cage and her toys for any sharp edges or burrs, or something she could have gotten pinched in. BTW, they do wake during the day, to shift positions, pee or poo, get a drink, groom themselves, get a snack, etc., They just tend to be quick about it since they prefer the darkness of their pouch. Please let us know how she does.

ok so somehow i made it through the day. my vet wasn't in at all today and there was no way to get in touch with him. i tried my mom's vet, but that one is only in on wednesdays. so i made an appointment with my reg vet for tomorrow after work. my b/f was actually nice enough to go out and buy the neosporin. put it on her hand and tried to stop her from licking her hand. he said they were both crabbing at him, lotus bit him hard many times b/c she didn't want to stay still. but he said afterwards he put her back in the cage and she fell asleep. he said it didn't really look that bad and it isnt necessary to bring her to the doc tomorrow... when i got home from work, she was kind of sleeping, but when i took out the elfin house, she woke up. i put more neosporin on her hand, notice a little iritation on the other hand, very small, and put a dab on there too. she stayed still and let her mom help her. she didn't try to lick her hands at all. i fed her a yogie as a treat. now she's back in the house and falling back asleep. Her right hand is not as red and irritated as it looked this morning, but then again it was really hard to get a good look at it. I think what happened was this is from the sandy trimmer track of the wodent wheel. she was running on it the other night for like most of the night. and i guess i had the track in there for entirely tooo long. i replaced the track this morning before i went to work with a regular track. but her running on it must have irritate her hands to the point that one of them got a little scabby red part. hopefully the neosporin will help her hands heal. i dont think i'll be using the trimmer track anymore. i usually clip their nails when i see them starting to get caught on things anyways. how often should i put the neosporin on? my b/f got the store brand, equivalent called Antibotic Ointment Original. its got the same exact ingredients but its cheaper. (i gave him $20 to buy it, i wouldnt have minded paying for the name brand..) am i doing everything else right? should i still take her to the vet tomorrow??

Just my 2 cents worth. The trimmer track being left in too long can make their little feet sore, but it's a safe alternative to clipping and less stressful if used for the recommended time. I wouldn't give it up altogether, just learn from the experience.

Id say from the sound of it it is very possible that the irritation is from the trim trax. I dont know for sure if anyone would be able to tell for definate what caused it ornot by pictures but its worth a shot hopefully someone has seen it before. sending get well wishes for your girl!!!

Aww poor girl. If she was running like crazy that probably is what it is. That is why I like the trim track for the stelth, they only hit the nails, not their little foot pads. Good luck!

well it was utterly impossible to get a good picture of her hand. no matter how i tried, and i feel like i completely stress her out bad. so no picture. but its not red or swollen around the area. i'll still bring her to the vet b/c otherwise i'll never sleep at night. I gave her a nighttime mealie, which she never gots, so hopefully she will forgive me from torchure. just put her in the cage, and got a perfect shot. of course the flash made it look much worse... ill post in a sec

Thanks for posting the pictures, they help a lot. I would still keep her vet appointment and continue with the Neosporin in the meantime. There's no way to know for sure if it was caused by the Trimmer Track, but it may very well have been since she ran in it so much. In regards to the track, I would still use it, just for shorter periods of time, as Lindayak suggested... Did you just have it in for one night or was it in there longer? Just trying to get an idea of what may have happened...
