I've had one glider for about a year now and he's always been very quiet. I just got two females (who live in a cage right next to him) and they chatter back and forth at night which I expected, and am very happy about! they get along great actually, I've only had them for a week and a half now but they seem very comfortable and happy. they even sleep in my hands already! the problem is the girls very recently started waking up again around 5:30 in the morning yipping and barking even when the my male is asleep. i thought they might want attention but they seem content to sit on a branch and look at me and just keep barking, what might it mean?

"Make with the mealies dad!"

I thought the caption was fitting! roflmao

I'm sure someone will chime in soon and tell you what the deal is with them. I just got my boy yesterday and he's been vocal when he's awake, but it's in short spurts, and he hasn't barked yet. I'm waiting to hear it!

Suggies just bark - there doesn't always seem to be a reason. They may be calling you, they may be trying to get the male out of his pouch, they may just be happy. My guys have been barking every night for the past two weeks - maybe the weather change.

My kid barked in probably half-hour bursts last night. I was excited! It was the first time he'd done it since I brought him home.

My Fiance.. not so much. It was 1am and he had to get up at 6. Oops? lol

Trust me - it gets old really fast, especially when they do it in the wee hours of the morning.

Really there is a reason that when we have the room, gliders get to be in another part of the house than us. The barking is SO cute... for about 2 minutes, lol.... right now we are living with Yoda in our room and honestly can't wait to get him back into a livinngroom and out of our sleeping area...

But the cutest thing is when they bark in their sleep, Yoda does this.... just like a dog, he'll be sound asleep and bark at something and he's done it before and woke himself up and a then he looks at me and psst's at me and chews me out like I am the one who woke him up, LOL smile

would it be the moon even when they don't see it? lol. All is quiet so far and it's after midnight. Are they gonna change into lil gremlins. Mine are all in my bedroom so I hear every little sound they make. I love th barking but my hubby doesn't when he can't sleep through it. So barking isn't a bad thing? I have always heard they bark for lack of attention.

I Had one of mine bark last night not sure which one,we heard it in our living room two rooms away. That was the first time I had heard it as well and it was cute. My husband even got down in the floor and was talking to them (first time) he,my husband was so cute trying to console the little guys. He/she just did it a couple of time then quit. My husband thought they might be hungry. HeHe
They and I are still adjusting to glider life in the Ferrell household.

We are not totally sure why they bark....
What always amazes me is how FAR the bark carries, even if you put them on the other side of the house you are almost guaranteed to hear them bark!

It could be they want attention, but I know I never give into the "bark and you get a treat" syndrome cause if you get up and get them out and give them a treat or something everytime they bark then they start to do it just to get a treat out of you! LOL

Indie used to just sit on a branch in the cage and bark into nothingness, and every once in a while Jaxom would pop his head out and chew her out, maybe telling her to shut up? But we never really figured out what she was barking at.

When the barking sounds frantic or unusual make sure you get up and check on them cause it could be something serious, but in general they could be barking for any number of reasons....

I know the 1st night we put monkeys in Yoda's cage he woke us up at one point and chewed us out, bark bark psst psst bark bark bark, lol. We think he was happy but we are not totally sure, he could have been asking what all those dang monkeys were doing in his cage and why were they holding all his bracelets, LOL.

lol

Laeken woke me up again last night about 3am barking. I got up and talked to him and he finally shushed up lol.

It was too dark for me to see what he was doing though. I think he barks at the monkies?

Just be careful - if you keep getting up, he will keep barking. Suggies are very sneaky that way.
