Hello!,
I have owned my 2 baby's Squee & Momo for 2 years now. mlove
I have researched all about care & health & have given alot to my lil ones. they are so sweet & bonded.
Being that one is an un-neutered male & an in-heat female.
I ended up with two babies blush I dont mind this at all.
I have researched all there is to know about breeding & information on caring for the joeys but it seems I am having a hard time getting exotic pet stores to take the babies.
I am writing this note because i need help with how to become an offical USDA breeder?
can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Are you trying to get your USDA so you can sell to pet stores?

Where did you get your babies from? Do you have their lineage?

Gliders shouldn't be sold in pet stores. There is no way to know if the person buying them has a clue as to how to care for them. Pet stores are NOT a good place for gliders to be kept as the abundence of other animals will stress them. Also, gliders are nocturnal and all the people coming in to "see" the gliders will be stressing them throughout the day.

As for the USDA license...

If you have 3 or less breeding females, you do NOT need a USDA license and you will have a very difficult time getting the USDA to issue one.

Are you over 18?

You may want to list your babies on forums like this one if they allow gliders sells in the classified sections to find good homes instead of selling to pet stores.

If you purchased them from a petstore with no lineage it's a very good possibility that they are inbred and related which means allowing them to continue breeding would result in inbred babies.
This can have negative effects on the health and longevity of the gliders.

Well then you are old enough to get your USDA but you need to find gliders from reputable breeders with lineages so you know there is no inbreeding.
Most times a good breeders price is comparable to a pet stores but the gliders are very well taken care of and you know they are healthy and have been loved on.

Yes Shanu is a white face blonde, Thank you he is a pretty boy and came from mysweetgliders. Anita is a wonderful breeder.

You're going to want to start at www.usda.gov

They'll send you a packet of information that you need to read through, thoroughly. There is a $10 non-refundable deposit for your registration. Your liscence fee depends on certainfactors of your "business". You are scheduled for an inspection, of which you are required to pass (within three visits -- three strikes you're out for 6 months, then you can re-apply).

You have to have your "business" visited regularly by an attending vet, with a yearly check-up required.

Everything is detailed in the packet of information you will recieve, as far as what needs to be done, how, and such.

Just remember, it's not going to tell you anything glider specific. It's very vague. That, you must learn through the amazing people here, and through your vet, and through your own personal research.

Good luck if you choose to pursue this!

Yes i prefer they go to a good home, & not a pet store.

That is certainly a much better idea. And I think the best place to find glider homes is on boards full of gliders slaves.
