Let us join together to slow down (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets
. We can not STOP them, but perhaps we can slow them down as well as give their potential customers a chance to not be "blind sided" by an adorable critter climbing into their pockets. Many people buy on "impulse" because they are put on your shoulders by these guys and you cant help but want one, or buy one for your child who is now crying for one! But if you could only see them from a distance...would that give you a second or two to THINK about it? Perhaps if they dont seem so easy to handle? The fact they would NOT let me pick and then handle a baby that I might have wanted to purchase is what stopped me from buying from them and then did more research on them!!! And resulted in me getting 2 rescues instead!
This will only help in NJ, but it is a start. I called the fish and wildlife dept for NJ which is the office that regulates any "exotic" pets in NJ. You must have one of their permits to keep gliders in NJ. The permit clearly says on it that the glider must be kept in the home at ALL times, the public is NOT allowed to come into contact with the glider, and gliders brought out of the home for vet
visits must be in a cage
. So I called and asked why the (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets
guys are allowed to let everyone handle them? she said they are NOT! The only
contact that is allowed at one of their "events" is a prospective customer can handle the animal they are going to purchase
This pertains to the actual animal they want to buy...NOT the seller's personal pets! But if you have ever seen them at these events they let people handle their personal pets and dont let you handle the one you think you want to buy until its paid for! Then they grab one out of the masses, plop it in a pouch and away you go. I also told her about the condition of how the babes are kept in a cage and she says we would need proof and send it to the USDA
office. she said they really cant help in that area. But if they are breaking the rules on handling and get enough complaints on that or better yet some pictures
, then they would call them and tell them to stop doing that or not sell here. Let me make this very clear: WE NEED EYE WITNESS COMPLAINTS!
It may not stop their sales, but it may slow them down a bit. Its a start. so I will be writing a letter, and trying to get some videos or pictures. Can any of you NJ residents do the same? PLEASE ONLY HONEST FEEDBACK! do not say "I feel" but say "I have seen" be honest! in case they ever go to court on it.

Right now they say they have NO complaints in their files for them, and if they had some, perhaps they can help! AGAIN....BE HONEST! You also have to stress WHICH (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets
guys as there are 2! one in texas and one in florida. The ones who do NJ are USUALLY
the florida fellas.
