We will miss our little boy. His name is Tang Tang. Tang means sugar and he lived up to his name. He is the sweetest sugar glider and friend ever. He refused to eat any living things like meal worms. He once came across a tiny roach. He picked it up with his mouth then quickly spit it out and ran away from it. He only crabbed 3 times in his life with us. Once when we introduced him to our parents. He was just a baby and got too much attention. The second time was when he climbed into my shoe and he did not like me shaking it a little to get him out. The last time was when we ate very spicy crawfish and he could smell it on our hands. Tang Tang loved to run around. He would go to all his favorite spots in our little apartment. Sometimes he would curl up and go to sleep. If he was awake we could make the whistling noise and he would come out from where he was playing and jump on us. If he was alseep though he would not wake up at all. When we could not find him last Sunday afternoon we thought that he must have found a place to sleep. We checked all the normal sleeping places, the ice cream cone box, his girlfriend's extra pouch on her cage, inside the soft old shoe, but he was no where to be found. I started to worry because we had not seen him for about 30 minutes and looked for another 30 minutes. My wife said the last place she saw him was hopping into the kitchen and she thought he went over to the stove. We looked under the stove as it has a small cabinet but he was not in there. I wondered if he was hiding behind the oven and pulled it out slowly so not to crush him in case he was there but I did not see him. That was when my wife noticed a small hole for the power cord to go into the oven. I got a screw driver and took off the small panel. I remembered thinking that there was no way he would get in there, but if he was I was afraid he was stuck. Once I took off the panel my heart sank. His eyes were open and he was stiff. There was no movement. I shouted to my wife not to look. I cried like I have never cried before. I picked him up and cradled him in my arms. My wife and I held him for many hours just crying over him. We did not know what to do. He is a joy in our lives and we felt that we killed him. We found a nice pet crematorium that comforted us a lot, Paws Memorial Service Paws Memorial Service. They do private cremations and once we got him back the next day we felt a bit calmer. I miss him terribly but we will always be together. I am thankful that I have so many people in my life that understands that Tang Tang is more than just a pet. He is an important part of my family. Just as they bond to us, we bond to them. So I want to remind everyone that even if you think you have gliderproofed your home, there may still be tiny places you cannot see that they can hurt themselves in. Check your electrical appliances such as the stove or refrigerator. Make sure there are no holes or spaces they can get in. If there are seal them even if you don't let your glider into those areas. Don't leave gravity to keep your glider's cage closed, use a small clip to seal it down. I think most importantly, set a time each month to go over your gliderproof home. Things may have changed between the first time you did it or you missed something the first time. It only takes a second and a simple oversight to take someone who we care about from this world. All things change and all things are not permanent except for the past. Are gliders are dependent on our humane care, lets not let them down.

KeVien, I am so very sorry for your loss. He sounds like a very special glider. Thank you, in your time of sadness, for coming here to warn others of the importance of glider-proofing their home and using clips on cages. Your advice, will save other gliders from such a tragedy. Glide free, sweet Tang Tang over the rainbow bridge. You will always be loved, missed and remembered.

So sorry you lost your sweet Tang Tang, he was a very special boy and he loved you as you him. Take care of yourselves and don't beat yourself up about it. Tang Tang taught you and many other sugar glider owners a very important lesson.
