I have this cage: Sugar Glider Deluxe Hexagonal Cage and I just spent an interesting half hour trying to get a Wodent Wheel inside my hexagonal cage. Eventually I had to disassemble it halfway and re-assemble it inside the cage. It was a bit like building a ship in a bottle. Does anyone have any links or pictures detailing modifications to the hexagonal "deluxe" sugar glider cage to give it bigger doors or should I just wing it? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi there. I have that cage...and it's a pain. lol There are a few modifications that you can do to it to make things a little easier. The door one wasn't too bad. I don't have any pics of mine but I could take a few tomorrow. I'm sure there's another way to do it and I want to say I've seen directions posted on here before, but what we did works. Basically, you zip tie the bottom of the top cage door to the panel between the doors, and then zip tie the top of the bottom door to the same panel. If you can picture it, both doors plus the panel will become one big door, so the zip ties are permanently on there and have to be tight. You have to cut the bars on the right hand side of your "door" next. The cuts are to the panel section and are the top, middle and bottom bars. There are a total of 3 cuts (I believe - I can't quite see in the dark lol). You're basically seperating the middle panel from the cage on the right hand side only so that the "door" can swing open and closed like a normal functioning door. I hope the way I'm explaining this isn't too confusing...I can post pics if you need some later. The other mod I've done is to the top of the cage. In case you haven't noticed, you can't really hang anything from the top of it. Now this idea I know I found posted on GC, I just can't remember who came up with it. Anyways, look inside the cage at the top..see the washer and wingnut? If you take a piece of tupperware (the dollar store has awesome ones to play with), drill a few holes around the side of the tupperware, and drill one big hole in the middle of the tupperware, you can hang it upside down underneath that washer and wing nut. I drilled 4 holes and hung a C link and plastic chain from each hole. This way when i want to hang stuff from the middle, I just hang it from the chain. It makes things a lot easier. I can post a pic of that tomorrow, too. Hopefully that was a little helpful...and congrats on your new baby!

Thanks for the description! I get what you mean and I can see how that would work. Pictures would be awesome. I'm definitely going to do the ceiling bowl thing, I was wondering how to hang multiple toys and that will be perfect. Thank you!

I almost got this cage, and was thinking of removing the grate and tray and placing/removing a wheel from the bottom. Does that work?
I ended up getting a different large cage with small doors and will be placing/removing the wheel from the roof.

You could maybe get in from the bottom, that's a good thought.
It's a nice cage but I'm definitely going to modify it for ease of cleaning.
