Hey guys, I was wondering how you tie a knot in the end of rexlace after putting the beads and such on it. Is their a certain way to get a strong knot? Thanks!

If the craft lace is from a spool, I snug it down fairly tight, tie, holding the ends taut until it stretches a bit, then tying and pulling again until it stretches a bit, then tying a third time.
If it's NOT on a spool, it doesn't have as much give and stretches (and breaks) easier, so you have to pull a bit more gentle, before tying. I tie three times with it as well.

Ok, thanks. I wasn't sure if there was a special way to tie a knot in it.

If there's a better way, I'd love to know about it. I don't have any who will untie the knots, but I've sold a couple of Tic-Tac-GO's to slaves who reported their gliders untied all three of my knots!

I use two square knots to tie off rex-lace: left over right, right over left, tighten ... then repeat. This seems to be more secure, and I have only had one knot come untied that I can remember.

You can also put the rexlace under some hot water for a moment and it will tighten the knot slightly.

I agree, I do the "square knot" and it is much better than a regular knot. Also, if it's thick rexlace, I'll put a lighter to it, and just let it "start" to melt, and it melds together. This is tricky, and you could have to start over Also, I have another trick, depending on your design. I'll take a final pony bead, put both strings through it, then put the left one 'around the bead' and back through it, and do the same with the right one (so now you have a visible rexlace string on each side of the pony bead) then pull them through together, and do the square knot. If that doesn't make sense, I bet I can get a picture to explain it.

Sari, Totally made sense. I tried to do this with one of my toys, but I only put it through on one side and was all wonky. Thanks! I will try the square knot!

I've been making a couple toys with Rexlace...what I've been doing at the ends is called a "quilter's knot". It's like a regular knot, but you run the loop through a second time, then pull hard til the Rexlace starts to stretch. Now mind you, it hasn't been "glider tested" for sturdiness yet...but the toys that I'm making, I'm also hiding the knots in my project. (for instance, I have a fish that has pony beads coming up it: I made a hole in the top of the fish, did my quilter's knot & buried the whole knot inside the fish's body. The hole is small, the knots are HUGE, and I've tugged pretty hard at it...nothing is giving way.)

For my squishy fishies or squeezable stuff like that, I fold the lace in half, drop a bead to the center, tie it off and stuff it in the fishy. The rest of the lace is hanging out, so in turn, your rex lace will be double, under the beads (if that makes any sense LOL). I leave enough at the top to loop back down the beads, so if the knot happens to slip, there's some left so the toy doesn't burst to pieces.
