Hi everyone smile I'm new here, but I've been researching gliders for a while. I was referred to this forum by a friend and it's proven to be a great resource so far.

I was so excited about gliders until I found out that you need a permit to own gliders in Maine.

(I seriously see them in the classifieds ALL THE TIME. I had no idea!)

Are there any Maine suggie owners on this board? I'm wondering if the permit process is difficult and/or expensive. Any advice would be fantastic! smile Thanks SO much!

wave WELCOME to GliderCENTRAL. I'm not familiar with the Maine Laws, however, you can browse through our Regulations and Laws forum to see if there's a post regarding to your question.

You might also want to look through our State Roll Call Forum, look under the state of Maine section, and try sending a PM to some of the members there.

I found this for you.

I did a search, and it does list Sugar Gliders as being 'unrestricted'.

Thanks LSardou! I have e-mailed that address but haven't heard anything back. I also got in touch with the guy who used to run Donovan's Sugar Gliders/Maine Sugar Gliders and he told me Maine residents don't need a permit to own gliders, and never have. I don't know what to believe, so I'm calling Fish & Game myself.

OK, for anyone who may stumble upon this thread in the future: sugar gliders are unrestricted in Maine, meaning no permit is necessary for breeding or owning or importation.
