I am curious about how other suggies respond to Priscilla's multivitamin. Her diet requires 1/8th teaspoon of vitamins PER glider (...which REALLY seems like an awful lot to me!). I am NOT suggesting changing the diet in anyway, but would like to know what others' experiences have been with the multivitamin. Do your gliders actually consume a full 1/8th teaspoon each? Do they enjoy the taste of the vitamin? I have one pair in particular who absolutely LOATHE the multivitamin, and refuse to eat anything that has come into contact with it! I am not certain how to remedy this situation. Suggestions?! -Alicia

My gliders all eat the vitamins with no problems. If your gliders can't stand the vitamins, then it might be time to try a different diet... or call Priscilla and see what she suggests doing about it. And in another post, you said something about feeding larger quantities and them picking through it... just wanted to let you know my own opinion about that: I love feeding the PP diet because I only offer what they will eat. If they are being picky about what is offered, then I must have given them too much, because they aren't hungry enough to eat it all.

However, I should note that most of the breeders who responded to my initial inquiry seemed to favor offering larger quantities to pregnant/nursing mothers rather than supplementing with some type of booster milk. Here's the link to that thread: http://www.glidercentral.net/ubbthreads/..._re#Post1013260 . -Alicia

There is a difference between offering mom more and just offering a TON. My nursing moms always seem to eat more, so I have to adjust for that. The biggest thing is to make sure that the nursing mom has enough to eat. Since she will be eating more, you should offer a bit more than you would offer her when she isn't nursing. With the PP diet, you just have to adjust according to that female. If she is eating more, then she needs more offered so she has enough to eat for herself AND her joeys.

I generally offer an additional serving for each of our mommies-to-be. For example, for 2 suggies ( ...one of whom is expecting! ), I would offer 3 rather than 2 servings each evening. They receive Gliderade several times per week, mealies every other morning, and a variety of healthy snacks throughout each day. I also keep sugar glider cereal and monkey biscuits in the cage at all times. However, for one of our mommies, simply increasing the amount of food available to her does not appear to be fully preparing her body for the demands of motherhood. That's why I was seeking advice on supplementation! -Alicia

I don't breed any of my gliders (after all.. It's just 5 girls..lol) but I feed Priscilla's diet and my girls love their food so much. Elodie and Jynx don't like the vitamins, so instead of letting the vitamins gently rest on the food, I pat it down so that it can't be eaten around. xD

my girls didn't like the vitamins,no matter how i fed it, sprinkled on top or mixed in,so i went to candy's blended diet, which they seem to eat most of the time.if i mix it w/any food, tho, they won't touch the food.i have very picky eaters:(:(i throw more away each morning than what they eat.

I have no problem with my girls eating the PP vitamins. I sprinkle it on top of their food and they go to town. If it's clumped together, they'll try to eat around it, but if it's sprinkled over the food evenly, they have no problem eating it. And yes, most nights, they've licked their bowl clean. :-)

Like a few have said, try a different diet for the gliders who do not like the vitamin. The big deal about P's diet is the vitamin, its the core of the diet - so if they wont eat that you should try doing another approved diet they will eat so that your kids are getting all they need I personally feed both HPW and TPG diets on alternating days/weeks my kids love both diets and ive never had anyone not like their vitamins Picky babies!! Good luck to you!

My gliders fight over the vitamin so I had to mix it into the protein mixture. I feed the diet fresh each night and the fruit and veggie part I hide all around their cage. Pockets (you might want to contact Priscilla directly and ask her) I had the ingrediants list when I talked the diet over with my vet but I dont remember what I did with the paper anymore. I know its 5:1 ca/P and it has other things including things to aid digestion(thats why my vet was involved when I switched diets - I have a glider who can not digest any food without medication) , my vet was very happy with her diet.

Pockets - here is info on Priscilla's vitamins This is copied from a GC post dated 2/16/05 - the poster is now showing as anonymous http://www.glidercentral.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/36571/1Surprisingly enough for some people as this will be, Priscilla has given me a break down!
Now keep in mind when looking at this and looking at the Rep Vits that we aren't trying to make a play by play comparison here. If someone else would like to take that on feel free, but my goal for this post was simply to get an idea of what the differences might be, so that those of us in the "common world" can have a little bit of a better understanding about vitamins.
So here is Priscilla's vitamin breakdown:
Breakdown per 7 tablespoons Pet Glider Vitamins
VITAMINS & MINERALS
Vitamin A 15,000 IU Vitamin C 1,000mg Vitamin D2 500IU Vitamin E 400IU Vitamin K 5mcg Thiamine B-1 25mg Riboflavin B-2 25mg Niacin 100mg Choline 100mg Inositol 100mg Vitamin B-6 25mg Folic Acid 400mcg Vitamin B-12 25mcg Biotin 25mcg Pantothenic Acid 25mg Calcium 1,125mg Iron 9mg Phosphorus 200mg Iodine 180mcg Magnesium 200mg Zinc 15mg Selenium 50mcg Copper 0.2mg Manganese 4mg Chromium 50mcg Potassium 100mg
AMINO ACIDS
Alanine 196mg Arginine 256mg Aspartic Acid 297mg Cystine/Cysteine 60mg Glutamic Acid 424mg Glycine 163mg Histidine 71mg Isoleucine 135mg Leucine 274mg Lysine 146mg Methionine 117mg Phenylalanine 167mg Proline 170mg Serine 165mg Threonine 123mg Tryptophan 48mg Tyrosine 147mg Valine 160mg
Also includes: -Calcium sup approved through the FDA -nectar, bee pollen, milk thistle for healthy liver function, probiotics for the immune system and for better absorption of nutrients, and Gum Arabic (from the Acacia species) a carbohydrate high in calcium A more recent post (I copied this but have not searched for the post reference) states: Priscilla’s description of her Vitamin blend. Here are some specifics: Our vitamins have a 5:1 ratio of calcium to phosphorus. Our multi generations of sugar gliders have never had HLP, or any calcium or diet related problems. The Pet Glider vitamins are a balanced multi vitamin and multi mineral supplement, including calcium. This vitamin is for mammals, not reptiles. Our supplement also has, bee pollen, milk thistle for healthy liver function, probiotics for the immune system and for better absorption of nutrients, and Gum Arabic (from the Acacia species) a carbohydrate high in calcium and a natural part of the diet of a sugar glider in the wild.

5 to 1 ? isn't that kinda high? I have been told too much calcium is bad. Personally i had to 25 25 50 til hpw and bee pollen came in for the blended. I have tried the PPrice diet for 6 weeks or more and they dislike chicken. I boiled it in water and cheese grater shredded it. But now they have gotten so they wont even eat the egg version.

JeremyandLexie - Priscilla's Glider Complete Vitamins are formulated to go with her specific diet. The 5:1 ratio does not mean there is extra calcium. It means that there is 5 times more calcium than phosphorus. it actually has 1125 mg calcium and 200 mg phosphorus in 7 TBS which is 168 1/8 tsp portions containing only 6.69 mg calcium and 1.29 mg phosphorus. Ratio is a math term for comparison and a high ratio does not always mean a large amount, in this case, of calcium. For example: 1 TBS Green Beans 2.54 mg Calcium 2.61 mg Phosphorus & a 1:1 ratio 1 TBS Papaya 2.10 mg Calcium 0.44 mg Phosphorus & a ratio of 4.8 Papaya actually has less calcium than green beans BUT is also has much less phosphorus so it has a higher ratio.

Thanks, I was under the impression that they were suppose to get 2 to 1, but I guess that doesn't do much good if the calcium is tiny small part. Ok I have no idea what I am typing but thanks.
