Cassie is doing really well. The swelling and redness in her little feet is almost gone. She drank for me, crabbed a little and went back to sleep. She is soooooo precious. As for Christmas, I usually try to go to church every year to remind me WHY after looking at all this stuff since something like September. Since I've moved, I haven't done that. I think this year, Cassie was my reminder. She is worth every second we have spent. If I didn't know how much in love with her Kora already is, I'm not sure I could let her leave our home. We would happily take her into our family if she needed us.

Thank you so much teriek, im glad she is feeling better. And yes I am in love with this lil girlie. Im in love with them all, how can anyone not be. Thank you so much for caring for her until she is placed in my forever home. God bless you, this is what Christmas is all about. The feeling we have in our hearts and helping those in need. Not what we can buy. It is about the feeling of the holy spirit running in our veins. The feeling of peace of mind, and the love we cant explain where it comes from and how we could hold so much in one place. Merry Christmas my friend and kiss the babies for me. Kora

Teresa, you may need Judy to go to the original vet and sign some sort of release to allow them to pass the info on to your vet, I know I had to do that a couple months back for a foster iguana we had here (sign a release so the new owner's vet could get info from my vet)...
Becki, I had thought about that. I think the first thing is to get in touch w/my vet and perhaps he can ask her vet to provide him any test results, x-rays, etc.

Here are updated pictures of Cassie's feet the swelling definetly has gone down alot the bad spot on her left foot is looking alot better and we just wrapped it back up with some more sylvadine and will leave it wrapped for a few hrs to let the medicine do it's thing. She is not bothering the leg and or foot any so this is good. She's eating and drinking and we will get her into a vet as soon as we can tomorrow. She has not gained or lost anymore weight she's still at 60 grams and seems to be a bit more active tonight as well. Please keep her in your prayers for this night as we all know they can turn for the worse as quickly as we think they are getting better.

Looks like she is doing great! It also looks as if she has lost her nails, will she ever grow them back? I am not good with ill gliders, or hurt gliders so I have never had one like that and I was just wondering.

I don't think she will grow her nails back. I have taken in some gliders that for what ever reason lost their nails. They get along just fine though.. I don't clip their other nails as often so that they can have a good grip on me.

Everyone, thank you for your interest and support where Cassie is concerned. It is too much for me to update on multiple sites as well as care for her.....there is a thread at: http://worldwidesugarglidernetwork.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=13336&start=20 if you'd like to go there for further information, thanks.

I don't know how long the board will be down. Cassie is eating very nicely, drinking plenty of fluids & has been prescribed an antibiotic for a UTI. The vet gave us Scarlett Oil for her wounds to be kept bandaged & changed 2X daily. All of the swelling except just a bit on the little ankle with the wound is gone and she is much more active. Thank you all for your concern. When WSGN is back up, there are more details over the last couple of days......

Because I thought that she would never walk again and that she was gonna keep SM on her ankle and I didnt know how to care for her if that was the case, so I gave her to Kora. Thanks for for caring.

This was in the works from the beginning with Kora getting Cassie....Since day one we were trying to get her to Kora. If this is just to get to us, you wont. This is something that the 2 parties have agreed upon.

I don't think that is what Teresa was trying to do at all. But from of us that just sit here and read, and are not involved, it's very evident and painful to read Judy's posts. It's clear she is in love with this little girl and heartbroken. I myself wondered why the offer to help heal her, then give her back wasn't made. Just because a glider is a sm'er, doesn't mean she will always be that. And this has underlying circumstances, the HLP, seems that if she is given some extra TLC and support, she will be able to live a long life and it's hard to understand why that means she'll have to move to Toni's. No offece Toni, just wondering why Judy doesn't get to keep her if she can be healed?
I truely think that is all that Teresa was trying to say.
Judy, it's clear your heartbroken, and I wish you and Cassie a speedy recovery. We are not hear to judge, just worried about the both of you.

Not my intentions at all. And that was totally uncalled for. It is so obvious how much Judy loves this little glider and how much concern she has for her well being.
Judy, being new to gliders, may not be completely informed as far as self mutilation is concerned.
Self mutilators, ones that have chewed at feet, legs or tails, generally once healed won't self mutilate again. The ones that you really have to worry about are the ones that go after their abdomen or cloacal area.
From what I have read, what has been posted, is that this little one reacted to a painful situation in the only way she knew how. Once the painful situation is relieved, healed, there should be no reason to believe that the self mutilation will reoccure.
There are many gliders living long healthy lives with only three legs or with a foot missing and no indications at all of any further self mutilation.
It just seems sad to me that Judy has had to give up a little glider she so obviously loves with no hope of getting her back.

Please remember, everyone, that emotions run high when gliders are injuring themselves. Please don't take offense to posts where none is intended. Let's keep this post focused on the good of the glider so that it doesn't have to be locked or shut down...
I really do not think that was an appropriate question Dancing. We asked for help here at GC along with WSGN. We begged for help with this glider and was offered advice. We begged for help with the RR when she was chewing her foot off , once again no one could or was willing to help on christmas eve or there before. Did any one ask how Judy was doing for the week she did not post? NO. there were no "how is she doing" or "do you need further help" I have reached out to Judy since she posted at WSGN on Dec. 8th. I have been in contact with her daily. Has any one here done that with a glider and its owner?
We knew what needed to be done as far as the vet's, the problem was getting the glider. Judy was frantic to see her baby in this condition and did what she felt she had to do. This was her choice and her choice only. No one forced her to surrender cassie to any one. Judy out of the love in her heart asked for help. I accepted to help and was given the glider.
T & J has opened their home to Cassie knowing she was being rehomed to me. This was in the works weeks ago. T & J have been kind enough to provide a link to her updates. T stated it was too much to do both boards and all her fur babies. WSGN was down due to some temporary irritations, but is up and running now, and if you feel the need to visit our board to read the status on Cassie you are welcome to do so.
The offer was made to Judy to have Cassie back once she was better, and she declined. Not that this information was to be public. There is more to a rescue than rehoming, RR'ing or handing a glider over to the new owners. There are calls to be made, updates to be given. You do not just help then disapear from that person or glider. It is more than that. It is a new friendship, a bond.
I think I have said all I want to say on this, so do not read between the line and do not make asumptions. There is such a thing called privacy.
Oh and Judy is not a new owner she has 9 gliders.

You were asked by a Moderator to keep personal issues out of this thread, and it is apparent that is not going to happen.
The glider is being cared for, and we all wish only the absolute best for this little one. I hope and pray that all involved are keeping both the glider and owner's best interest at heart which I'm sure they are.
The personal issues between posters need to be settled off GliderCentral permanently .
Since this situation has been resolved, I am now locking this thread.
