I'm currently in the process of obtaining a couple of sugar gliders. Before they come home with me, I'm trying to make sure I have all my ducks in a row. I've had bad luck in the past with the BML, so I'm almost positive I'm going to start them on the Priscilla Price diet... There are TONS of glowing reviews on this diet, and I haven't seen any drawbacks or negative feedback. I know diet bashing is a no-no, and under no circumstances am I trying to start a war here. But I would like to know has anyone had any negative experiences with the Priscilla diet?? What happened? Were you able to resolve the problem? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

I haven't found any. I switched about a month and a half ago from PML to P's diet. My babies would not eat fruits for the life of me on PML, but with it mixed in to the goop with Pricilla's, they all lick their bowls clean every night!

I used Priscilla's diet since day one of owner gliders. (January of 2006).

I have had zero problems with this diet and I have not had to take my gliders to the vet for any health issues. They are all very healthy and not too skinny or too plump either.

I have never had a rejected joey either. Four of my gliders are on their second sets. Two of them have not produced babies yet.

HTH!

The only drawback I have had on this diet is my suggies dont like eggs. Being as they are not as finely ground as the bml it is a little more of an issue. The way I get around it is I just put the chicken in instead of the egg. The only real difference between eggs and chicken is one is not yet formed other than that they have about the same protein content. So that is the only issue I have had on this diet.

Mine wouldn't eat the egg or chicken at first, so I have been blending it up with the applesauce, so that it is all liquid, and they gobble it up now

Mine wanted to eat the cereal or the monkey biscuit instead of the mix. I just take those during feeding time and only leave it in there for a daytime snack.

Mine love the chicken and the egg (scrambled or boiled), so it probably just depends on the glider.

Yeah, you have to play with it to see what yours like. I have a couple (out of 9 right now) that will eat the chicken and eggs without blending them up, but everyone will eat it with it blended in, so you just have to see what works best for you and your suggies. I love the variety in P's diet. They don't get bored with what they get every night

I have to blend the egg up really well also before adding it to the "goop" or Willow will pick it out, lol...

Honestly, the only bad thing I've found is when you freeze it according to her instructions it's hard as a rock and darn near impossible to break a piece off, lol..

Oh, and for those who've been following my fluffy girl Lilo, after a month now on Priscilla's, she's down to 178 grams from 194 grams!

I have 14 gliders on Priscilla's diet and they gobble it up. I've had no issues at all. My first gliders were happy with BML but I got some of Priscilla's gliders and found that her diet was easier for me to fix. I freeze it either in icecube trays then transfer to freezer bags - or I just scoop it into freezer bags and flatten them so they're easy to break into pieces. If you let one sit a few minutes or run it under water, it's easy to cut into squares.

Beki- how do you freeze it? I have no trouble getting it to crumble and I just freeze it flat in the big zipper freezer bags....and my gang loves it. No drawbacks yet other than remembering to order vitas and cereal before you run out.

I have my freezer set on the medium setting or else the ice cream either melts or freezes so hard I have to microwave it to get it out of the carton, lol... Maybe it's just because I'm used to the consistency of BML dunno

So basically from what I'm reading... the drawbacks are mainly in taste preferances with your gliders only?? I ordered the vitamins and monkey biscuits last night. I think I'm going to go with the Zookeepers as a staple, mainly because I prefer the consistancy, and the ones I'm getting are used to it. So no one has had any health issues?? The suggies not eating their vitamins? Liking it for a couple of weeks, then deciding not to eat it at all??

They eat less than when I fed BML - but they eat it consistantly and more complete. The vitas appear to taste good - I think someone mentioned on here that they even tasted them once and said they were good. I do not have as "fluffy" of gliders since switching as well.

Becki - the only thing I do different is I do not add the yogurt in the mix I serve it on the side so maybe that makes a small difference? Also how full are your bags? mine are smoothed out flat so it is just a thin layer just enough so you can not see through anywhere....and it breaks up just fine.

i filled the gallon bags about 1/2 full and then smushed it flat, it was less than 1/2" .. With the latest batch I just portioned out each cages nightly meal into a snack size ziploc and then put those into a larger ziploc marked with who it's for. I have some that I froze in the silicon muffin pans as well and then put in a larger ziploc..

Like I said, it really could just be me because I'm used to the consistency of BML/PML..

Mine love the vitamins, they are supposed to be sweet, and have a lot of ingredients that they get in their natural environment. I freeze mine in 1 TBSP portions in ice cube trays, and then store them in a gallon zip lock bag. I give each glider 1 cube every night. They all clean their plates every night with the exception of my younger ones (under 6 months).

The good thing about P's cereal and the monkey biscuits is that it is hard, and helps clean their teeth when they do eat it, although in all reality, mine don't really eat the cereal much... unless I am late bringing dinner, lol

I haven't had a problem with this diet. Mine eat every bit of it everynight. All are very healthy. I was feeding zookeepers for a long time because I wasn't sure about the cereal. Zookeepers stinks, dries out quickly, and has animal biproducts. The cereal has good ingredents and is actually soft and crumbles easily and they don't eat much of it. It's also a good protien sorce. Mine love the monkey bucits. It helps clean their teeth.

Target has Silcone Mini-Muffin "pans" and they work PERFECT for freezing just the right sized portions. I only bought two of the muffin pans, so I have to feeze in shifts, but after and couple hours in the freezer I transfer them to tuperware containers, it's sooo much easier than the ziplock bag! I had to beat my bag with a hammer everynight, I was sure I was going to break off part of the counter! LOL

Othere than that, I LOVE P's diet, it's easy to make, and we have a clean bowl everynight....it worried me at first that I wasn't feeding enough so for a couple nights I fed extra, and he still ate the Original "serving size" so now I know he's not going hungry...he getting just the right amount.
