I've built my own cage from wire shelving (6'x4'x2'). It worked out great, but it's too big and heavy to move around for cleaning. I was wondering if anyone knew of anything that I could use instead of zip ties that can be easily removed and re-attached? That way I can take it apart for cleaning.

I don't know what to suggest. My cage was hooked with metal clips but I removed them and use zipties so I can clean it easier (take it apart). Would be interested in an easier alternative too.

I was at Kroger and they sell reusable zipties, they come with a little button kind of thing you push and you can open up the ziptie again, so far no problems =) They come in neon colors too haha . . . hope that helps.

sounds good but one problem, we don't have a Kroger here. Wonder if Dillon's will have them, they are a sister company of Kroger. Will have to look. Thanks.

[:"blue"] Ain't that cool....never heard of such a thing!! I love neat little gizmos like that!!! Checked out the Albertson's hardware shelf tonight and sure enough, there they were. Only problem is they were over $3 for a package that probably contained 15-20 ties. Pricey.
I'm a little concerned about how well they might hold on a really tight curve?? I'm sure they would work just fine on PVC pipe or a wood dowel; but I wonder how well they would hold just two wires together like joining two pieces of cage wire??? [/]

wow, that is pricey. I made a small travel cage and use almost 200 zip ties putting it together. I would go bankrupt on a large cage at those prices!

Hey..I just bought some <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/exclamation.gif" alt="" />VELCRO <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/exclamation.gif" alt="" /> zip ties at WalMart-they were in hardware. You can obviously reuse them..and so far they seem pretty sturdy!! Good Luck <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumb.gif" alt="" />
