I just got home and I got some emails from Tom. I know there are a lot of people here who have been following this little glider and her babies. We need advice. Is there a chance this little girl will make it? My heart wants to take Cleo to the vet and make everything alright for her, but my head is telling me that it's too late. Please advise???

Here is what Tom said.

"I think that she has a turmor or growth of some kind near her brain. Let me explain. Remember that squirrel that had head trama that you got to me. She's starting to do some of the same things now! Her eyes are twitching really fast, and she basically refuses anything now. Same two things the squirrel was doing. I'm starting to think the best thing for poor Cleo is for me to put her down. She seems to be suffering now, and it doesn't look good. I'm still debating on it, but I am not sure if it's going to get any better."

There are other things that can cause those symptoms. GO TO THE vet NOW!

I'd go to the vet. Any number of conditions can cause similar symptoms...you won't know for sure until a vet does a thorough exam/tests. If a tumor, pain meds/antiseizure meds, etc could at least make her more comfortable. Please take her.

I just got home, Cleo was doing better and sleeping when I gave her to Anita. She's taking her to her vet back in Mims and hopefully they will find out the root of this problem. Luckily I caught her being sick again quickly, or I don't think she would have made it like last time. I had to put 5 CCs of ringers into her to get her rehydrated after all the puking she did. I don't know what caused it because I've been donig the same thing since she got better. I'm REALLY hoping they'll find the problem and get her well. Keep her in your prayers guys.

Dunno, you'd have to ask Anita, and so far she hasn't answered my email. Hopefully everything is ok.

Spoke too soon:

I just got some food down her. She wouldn’t take the pedialyte mixed with rice cereal. I just want to keep her hydrated and put something bland on her stomach. I mixed a little danactive yogurt drink in to it and she ate about 2 cc from the syringe. Once I saw she was going to take it, I put a couple of drops of liquid calcium in it. I will feed her as often as I can get her to take it tonight so it’s gonna be a long one. Other than that we won’t know anything until tomorrow when she sees the vet. I think you are right… she can’t see. I am keeping her in that little cage for now to keep her from falling and hurting herself. I took your shirt out to give her a little room but it is draped around the cage.

OK, I got lost twice in Jacksonville and Tom fianlly gave up on me finding his house and brought Cleo to me. I think I was somewhere on the other side of town???? Anyway by that time it was 6:30 and no vets were open. I brought her back to Mims and we will see the vet first thing in the morning. She is doing pretty good right now. I finally mixed up a concotion that she will eat. It's pedialyte, rice cerial and Danactive yogurt drink. I'm just trying to keep her hydrated and put something bland on her tummy. If anyone thinks of anything else I can do, please let me know. And I think Tom is right, she seems to be blind or nearly blind.

I have just talked to both Anita and Tom. After the vet visit today, the pain the little one is going thru, and the fact her kidneys are damaged from the severe dehydration. It was agreed that Cleo will be released from her suffering this at this time. Cleo we will see you at the rainbow bridge. Hugs to all for the prayers.

Thanks guys. We all did our best and it just turned out that there wasn't anything that anyone could do in this case. I bought he another week, but she must have been dehydrated for too long. I will be installing extra water bottles into every cage soon. I got a job and will be starting Monday or Tuesday. I will make SURE to pay off my old vet bill, and to also start saving up for possible vet bills so this won't happen again. Thanks so much to all that helped me.

Oh Tom I am so sorry. Please know you did the right thing and did all you could for Cleo. It was right to not let her suffer anymore. I am here if you need anything. It was so sweet of Anita and Cyndie to jump right in and help.

You didn't have to think of anything to say to me. You already said enough with your actions alone. You probably took this harder than I did. But I already got all my crying out before I saw you. I got to the she might not make it stage already, and was ready to hear it. I was kinda happy because I knew she was hurting because of the way she refused to leave me. She wanted to be with me all the time after she got sick. I couldn't handle this glider at all when she was normal. I would get bitten or scratched. She made up for all of the years of that in one short week. I'm just sorry it had to end this way, but happy she doesn't have to suffer any more. Cleo was a tad over 5 years OOP. She lived a descent life, and I'm sure she'll be waiting at the bridge for me. She got happy when she smelled me after she couldn't see. Cause every time I was there with a dropper full of Ensure or Wombaroo to feed her. Until she got sick the second time she would easily take several droppers full at least 3 times a day. I tried my best, never forgot her medicine, which I don't think really helped. I lost so much sleep dealing with her I lost count. Prolly only got 15 good hours of sleep that week. But I'd do it all again for another glider, because she was my friend. *Cries*
