First off I'd like to that all the wonderful people who assisted me with their valuable information and thoughts.
For those of you who do not know the story--Quantas was my original glider---he was 6 years old---he was the house glider--which means--he owned the whole pad---had his favourite places to sleep--usually in my underwear drawer--or in bed with me *S*
Back in late February--he started sneezing---we took him to a highly rated vet---found in the area--from one listed in the vet database--Dr Rick was and is great---we both learned so much.-his sneezing was once in awhile at first--it increased to almost constantly---he put him on an antibiotic---this seemed to help--his sneezing decreased substantially---it was diagnosed as a respiratory infection.
On my next trip back to the vet--he noticed something strange---what appeared to be anal glands(this is where my help came from all the wonderful moderators on this forum--if they didn't have information--they pointed me in the direction of those who did--for this I'm ever grateful)
Anyway--yes they tuned out to be anal glands--he expressed quite a lot of a musky semi-solid---strongly glider scented substance---once he did this--Quantas almost became 90% better overnight--eating playing--doing all the wonderful glider things we love so much.
After a few subsequent trips back and forth to the vet--for check ups---at the last one--his sneezing seemed to have returned--not quite as often--we kept on the Sulfatrim antibiotic--and sneezing began to subside again
I work evenings(which is why gliders are great for me--I'm up--when they are)
I came home from work at approximetly midnite--and there was Quantas on the bottom of his cage---he appeared to be in a just about to leap position---he had passed away---his little system couldn't take it anymore--the vet thinks he had a heart attack--but--on further examination---his anal glands were full again---not quite as solid this time---more liquidy--this could have been another factor in his death
I'm sorry for those who kept wanted updates on Qunatas--this happened on March 24---and it is just now that I can write about it.
Although I must admit--I have tears in my eyes at the moment
Quantas will always live in my heart---he was and is the most special little guy--he gave me so much---and I feel as though I failed him.
In memory of Quantas I write this
Thanks again for all the wonderful advice I have recieved over the past few months.
Quantas is sadly missed

OMG, I am so sorry for your loss. You have to know that you didn't fail your little guy, for he knows you did't. I hope you feel better as time goes on.

[:"blue"]I am so very very sorry for your loss. There are many of us who know the pain you are going through and totally understand. It was almost a year before I could write about the loss of my first glider.

I would like to commend you for sharing the information with us. It could and probably will save another glider's life in the future. I know it was hard, but we do so appreciate it.

I'm not going to tell you that it will hurt less with time, because right now I know you don't feel that way.

We will keep you in our prayers. [/]

I am so sorry for your loss!! It sounds to me like Quantas was very lucky to have you. I don't think you failed in the least but you prolonged his life. If I were a glider I would want you taking care of me. I hope your heart starts to mend soon!!

I am so sorry. It is not easy to loose such a special friend and most of us here know the heartache you feel.

May Quantas rest in pease....and your heart heal in time. Perhaps one day....you will only remember the silly little things that made you smile. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frostyangel.gif" alt="" />

Toolah,
I am so sorry about Quantas,I do remember you posting for help. He knew you loved him and he loved you! You did all you could possibly do, and that's all that you can do. That's all that anyone can expect you to do.
Hugs
Chey
