Sugar's joeys have been oop for 5 days now. Last night Spandex (dad) slept away from them. I saw both of them come out and eat, so I know she ate. I haven't heard any fighting from them. Is this normal?

Widget's slept apart from Gidget and Doodad a few times, even going so far as to sleep in the wheel when I didn't have a spare pouch available.

I think they just like to take some time away from the little ones every once in a while. I know Gidget will get out and run in her wheel until Doodie starts crying from time to time.

I don't think it's anything to worry about unless Sugar isn't eating or they're not responding to the joey's cries, as long as it doesn't become a regular sleeping arrangement.

I’m not sure… I have not had joeys yet…but I would hazard to guess that maybe he needed a break…. I know dads help out .. maybe he just needed a night off…as long as the joeys are not being rejected, and everything else seems normal I think things will be fine…

Catcher, my boy gets booted out sometimes. I have yet to figure out why but I always keep a (dog house) pouch hanging and mealies ready for those times when Sassy does this to him

As long as someone is sleeping with the babies! If they both sleep in the wheel I'd really worry.

I have some gliders that sleep apart but not always only once or twice a month.

Mine have done the 'leave them alone for a bit' routine, but I just gather the babies and place them back and it seemed to be okay for three to five days, maybe just taking a break and want some time alone away form the baby scene. I'd keep an eye out for just in case though.
Good luck and keep us posted.

They haven't done it again, thank goodness!
