Hello, mine isn't pregnant yet but I was wondering what the best types of food to feed her would be, i know she needs more protein. She is fed the BML diet, mealies and fruits and veg and pieces of chicken every night, is this okay. I read somewhere that she is suppose to get pinkies also, is this true?

[:"green"]Some people recommend feeding pinky mice (live or frozen) when a female is pregnant/has joeys in-pouch. It really is a matter of personal preference. Some other protein source options are: chicken or turkey (parboiled without seasonings), scrambled eggs (no seasonings), hard-boiled eggs (especially the whites), tuna (packed in water, but drained), imitation crab meat, salmon (packed in water, but drained), etc. HTH

A lot of people recommend to up the protein and calcium for nursing mom's with some of the things Suz suggested...but when I asked Bourbon (the B in BML) what she suggests for those who use BML, she recommended to me to offer more BML, a few extra mealies (1-2 extra per day), and a yogurt a few times a week. But in the end, it comes down to your own personal choice of what you think is best for your glider. There are many members who feed BML and still choose to up the protein and calcium with the added foods to be certain their mom's can kept their milk supply up. Also, since your little girl does not have joeys yet, I would not add the extra chicken to her diet each night. BML has all the protein in the mix itself and it is not recommended to add any extra (besides the insects you feed). HTH <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumb.gif" alt="" />
