The vet is ok with the SUBQ fluids that she is getting because she still fails the tent test almost everytime. Once she is able to start eating more on her own or her tent test is better I will decrease the IVF.

Mom is not on a specific glider diet. They eat Happy Glider dry food with Vitonate, Rep-Cal without Phos and Milk replacement as their vitamin mix. They are given a WIDE variety of foods every day. I have tried other diets (like BML, Leadbeater's and Pricilla's) and they won't eat it. I did increase her protein and calcium but not by alot.

Her mom has had healthy babies everytime and I have a 17 year old glider that is still thriving so I think everything is okay diet wise. My vet is amazed at how well my gliders are doing, especially my old girl.

I think that this is a mix of PTSD and her just learning to be a mom.

yes my destiny is a miracle too. she was dehydrated for over a month, but i never subqued her she was brought back on half pedialyte and bml in a 1 cc syringe every 2 hrs around the clock and then i gave pedialyte in her food after she ate on her own as she was still slightly dehydrated 2 months later, she was subqued by my vet 2 days in a row. when she was almost gone. then i did the force feeding so she got the liquid that way. but she never fought me when i force fed her because she was out of it in the beginning. till she came back to life. it took a couple of wks before she was pushing away the syringe. your girl sound like she will make it she is no way as bad as my destiny from your describtion. i never thought destiny would make it to the vet. that was in june. there were times i thought she was dead as she wasnt moving if you saw her now its a true miracle. i also layed hands on her and prayed for her healing which i believed played a big part in her recovery.

Update on Kizzy.....She is doing well today. She is using that right left foot more and it is also starting to look more normal.

Also, her face looks more mature. She looks different today. Like she isn't just a sick baby. Her fur seems to be softer and a little more filled in so I think we are making progress.

Thanks she is still the same as far as weight goes. But she just got finished eating 7ml of her formula so her appetite is improving. I am increasing the amount of baby food that I am adding so hopefully she will be ready for more solid foods soon.

She is currently watching football with my husband.

I thought that those who offered encouragement and advice might like an update on our "Dwarf Sugar Glider" Kismet aka. Kizzy.

She is 9 weeks OOP today. She has been off of SubQ fluids since 10/6 and is eating the same food as all of the other adult gliders and her sister. She was separated from her parents and is in a cage with her sister since Sunday and is doing great!

She is looking more and more like a mature glider and is using her foot that was giving her trouble. She weighed 28 grams today. She has yet to go over 30 grams and doesn't show any signs of getting any bigger. So, I guess there is such a thing as a "Dwarf Sugar Glider". Our vets are amazed and she is happy and healthy, crabbing when I irritate her but more often than that FULL of kisses.

I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks for your kind words. Keep the prayers coming that she will stay as happy and healthy.

Here is a picture of Kizzy now (to give you some scale, the cup that she is sitting on is 4 inches long):

I know she is about the size of a 3-4 week OOP glider. It is still so strange to see her next to her sister.

However, she is A LOT tougher than I expected. She jumps around her cage and wants to do everything that the other gliders do.

I have added extra branches, ladders, places to hide, hammocks and anything else I could to make it "Dwarf Sugar Glider" friendly. She tends to ignore them and goes about her business. It is fun to watch something so small wanting to live and be normal SO bad. We are truly blessed.

LOL.....she is sitting on my shoulder while I am sitting on the couch on my laptop and my 90lb Rottweiler came up to me and she ran down my arm, crabbed at the dog and then ran back up to my shoulder again. My dog just looked at me.

I don't let the dogs near the gliders I just think it is funny she took it upon herself to tell one off. LOL

That's about the size that Smidgin was at that age. I hand-raised him from 3 days OOP. Now's he's all grown up and weighs about 90g. I think it's normal for hand-raised joeys to be alot smaller.

She sure is a cutie pie! grin It makes me miss when Smidgin was that small. *sigh*

How precious is she?! So tiny yet so amazing! She still might yet gain weight. I have a friend who thought she had a dwarf glider because he was so tiny. After a few months, he became normal size.

Keep sharing pics with us! She's adorable!!

What a little darling. I too think you will see her get bigger once she is all healthy. For my experience with raising joeys, sometimes when little ones have issues it will slow/stunt their growth temporarily while their body tries to mend itself.
