I know we all know about the silent spinners. I was at Petco today and this wheel caught my eye. Now, I have all of the wheels I need, but has anyone heard anything about it? I picked it up and turned it. It's pretty sturdy, but the wingnut moves WITH the wheel, and the one that was in my hand,m made the wheel stop or slow... I figure, for new people to know, we may as well investigate, before a glider gets hurt on it. http://www.petco.com/product/105026/PETCO-Small-Animal-Mesh-Exercise-Wheels.aspx?CoreCat=LookAhead

I can't find it! Basically we came to the conclusion that it wasn't glider safe, though! I actually had one in my possession that I bought JUST to post about on here...then I returned it afterward

There's not much room between the base and the running surface. I know one of my gliders likes to ride the outside of the wheels. She'd be doomed for a boo boo in this one. LOL For that reason alone, I'd say unsafe.

Yeah, I don't think this would work very well for gliders. But... this would be perfect for my gerbil! He can only have metal/wire wheels cause he eats everything else. Little devil, lol...

The gliders can get injured by the bar that is on both sides in the middle. The bar is actually behind the screen back of the wheel. It is attached to the rim and moves with the entire wheel flat against the mesh. The stand is short but the wheel can be removed from the stand and attached to the side of the cage. I bought one to use in my 'guest cage' a couple weeks ago. I did not have time to order an extra stealth. It works fine, has no sharp edges or pinch points. I am not sure the metal mesh would hold up under long term use due to glider pee and repeated washings but for a temporary wheel it worked fine.

I just wanted to add that I have owned rodents my whole life; and these kind of metal mesh wheels are not safe for their tails (except with hamsters who have tails too short to be a worry) It is annoying because rodents chew plastic so much; and gerbils are much bigger chewers than the other rodents; so plastic wheels have an especially short lifespan with them but gerbils are also the most apt to get their tails caught in wire mesh. Sorry, I know its off topic, just didn't want our rodent friends getting hurt, either; I find it harder to get safety info about them than my glider babies, so I wanted to share the little bit I have gathered for those who love rodents, too. Rat kisses!

I have seen this one. IMO there is still way too much potential for hurting a suggies delicate & beautiful tail. I personally wouldnt take the chance. I know Baggie loves to peek her head out in the daytime when we are at work & she uses her tail to help block the light just as we would with our hand. It's really pretty cool.
