Connie, I think you should be having chicken salad for dinner, because you don't want to give them that much food at once, just the scraps left on the bone, & the bone (marrow) itself.

Ok some feedback. Although I didn't give them all of the drumstick to eat, it was more fun and play, and after we took some pics, I scraped off the excess meat and gave them the bones.
There is one side-effect/downside I noticed. All of them had about half a teaspoon of chicken but Gizzy, and all of them had a go at the bones except Gizzy, and all of them were a tiny bit constipated the next evening. Gizzy was the only one who did not participate, and also the only one who was not constipated.
It was not like they were hissing, but the texture of the stools was a little harder and darker in colour.
So I don't think I will be doing this any time soon, it was fun though. They had a blast.

Mine all had a blast with the meat and the bone. (I scrapped most of the meat off, so they didn't really get a whole lot, so it didn't throw off the ratios). I checked everyone all through the night and watched their poo and behavior the next few days. No problems here!

I boiled up a dozen chicken drumsticks last night...NO seasonings, no veggies, nothing in the water at all. Let me tell you, as I was cleaning off the bones I had quite the audience (my CATS) begging me for little pieces of meat here and there! (No, I don't have any spoiled animals in my house! ) I had chicken salad for lunch, and the bones are in the fridge waiting to become glider treats tonight. I'll be sure to take some pictures...this oughta be a RIOT!

Those pictures are priceless! Can't wait til my granddaughter is old enough to understand what she started by putting her drumstick in the glider cage. I just bought a big pack of drumsticks today so mine will get a treat tonight. Double treat as I finally found some yogurt drops today.

well i tried the chicken bone with a little chicken on it. sugar and rocky didnt touch theirs.
leah and lakota/joeys are a different story.
leah and the joeys were picking at the meat and bone and lakota was observing at first. when they were done lakota comes over to this big ole drumstick and starts to carry it up the thick stalk of wood in their play room, it was to heavy i guess cause he didnt make it to the top, bone in mouth he takes it to their play house and does make it to the top. lakota kept that bone to himself all during play time, he dragged that bone where ever he went. when i put them all back in the cage, all 4 gliders attacked the bone, next morning the bone was picked clean and no marrow. no problems what so ever, they had a blast. i only wish i had taken my camera in there to catch lakota hauling that big drumstick around, i was laughing my --- off.
i dont understand why rocky and sugar didnt touch theirs but i will still offer the bone to them, maybe they will take an interest the next time.

Last night the family was over, we ordered pizza. You guessed it! Li'l Jesse sneaked a piece of pizza in the glider cage, which I removed immediately. I WILL NOT be ordering pizza for my sugar gliders! I'm going to set up a dish in the frig for Jesse to treat the gliders with. She loves them so much and is priceless to see her and Bandit exchanging kisses. They crawl all over her while she sits so still and pets them with one finger, as we've taught her. She's only 16 months old but sure she'll be a sughie slave for life.
It's so cute watching them drag that big old bone around. Bandit tries valiantly every time to get it into the sleeping pouch.

Awww! I think getting Jesse her own treat bowl for the gliders is a good idea! She can learn to go get their treats from there, instead of sharing her people food. She sounds like such a good girl and sweetheart with the gliders! I'd love to see pictures!

Mission accomplished! I was changing out pouches last night and there was Bandit, curled up with a chicken bone. He was actually able to cart it into his sleeping pouch.

Alright so I remembered this thread last night while Phil and I were eating our baking chicken dinner and I put one drumstick bone with a bit of meat left on it in the girls cage and went outside to do farm chores. I came back in around 9pm and Phil noticed Milly was already awake and annihilating the chicken bone at the bottom of the cage. I was worried she may be splintering the bone so I attempted to take it away from her to make sure their were no sharp edges and it was nearly impossible to pry it from her little hands. As soon as I did get it away she launched out of her cage directly on my face! The bone was fine, hollow in the middle like everyone explained. So I gave her a bit of cooked chicken and she loved it. I had no idea the little guys actually went crazy over chicken, mine have never had it before.

There were NO traces of the bones in my cages. NONE! I am still looking for traces somewhere after a week! LOL

I always remove the skin (too fatty), and also if you give the drumstick, remember to remove the tiny little sharp bone than runs alongside the bigger bone. It's very sharp. I also remove the majority of the meat from the bone after photos.
