I was sitting in my chair by the cage last nite and I noticed that something was wrong with his tail. I got up to take a closer look and see that he was caring around 2 milk rings by his tail! He puts them over his head, wiggles them down to his tail, then wraps his tail around them and then runs around. I was totally amazed! So I ran to find the video camera! I didn't know they could caring things around with their tail, does anyone else's gliders do this?? You have to watch closely at the beginning when he gets it over his head and down to his tail. You can view the video here.

Isn't it adorable?!! My Piper does this. The first time I caught her doing it - was so cute. She kept doing it over and over - showing Mommy her new trick like a little kid. You are so lucky to catch it on video - I haven't got that yet.

this is a wonderful video I love how they can carry stuff around. My guy is a carrier to, but he won't use milk rings only pumpkin buckets but sad to say he has put on some weight and he is having a hard time excepting he is to big to put his bucket on to carry it around. He still trys but his fat head is the only thing he can squeeze into the bucket handle lol then he just sets there and looks so sad with it on his head. So I cheer him up with a treat an tell him one day I will find a bigger pumpkin bucket that he can fit over his fluffy fizeek.. here are pictures of when he use to be able to fit it over his body to carry it.

My gliders Romeo and Ruby are tail carriers too! All of their joeys have also been tail carriers. Im thinking its either hereditary or they learn it from the parents... I have a video of Ruby carrying a plastic bracelet with her tail. Then she grabs the bracelet in her mouth while its still being held by her tail (her head is bent like she's looking up with the bracelet over her back). Every time I see her do that I about pee my pants from laughing SO hard! She looks SO ridiculous prancing around the cage like that! I would post the video but I don't know how. I only know how to post pictures on here. If someone can tell me how ill try to post the video of her doing it. Ruby also tries to fit as many bracelets on her tail as she can. She had 8 of them once! She takes them back to her pouch and gives them to her husband Romeo. Gliders just amaze me so much with all the things they can do!

Milk rings are so hard to get around here *sigh* I can't imagine what they would do with a whole tub of them lol! I can't believe how much they like them!! When I heard about them, I was WHAT??? Right!?! I don't know what it is about them lol
Feathers too! LOL they are like a cat chasing the feather around, even my joey does it the first time she saw a feather. ALL FEATHERS MUST BE DESTROYED!! LOL!! I'll have to get that on video!
Thanks for for watching my video and I'm so glad you all enjoyed it!! You can use any kind of ring. You just cut them off...... like juice rings, or soda rings, and what I did was ask every single person I knew to cut the Hellmans mayo ring off their jar. So, I am a hairstylist, and have a ton of clients and they all brought in the ring off the Hellmans jar. Got about 20 of them!

Me three!! Hmmm, hairstylists love gliders apparently. I know of one other in the forum. My question is, dont milk rings have those sharp little grooves in them? wouldnt that maybe hurt them?

Pookah used to grab pieces of paper with his tail and stuff it in his pouch. He hasn't done it in a few years but I remember being really concerned the first time I saw his tail all twisted around the paper. I thought he broke it lol. After a quick visit here though I realized he was just hauling it around. It's so great you caught this on video!

Was watching mine tail carry last night. She'd get it down her body and then Smith came over and snatched it out of her tail. He nibbled on it for a few minutes but didn't seem to know what else to do with it. I didn't get very good pictures of Chloe carrying it because she scampered right to their pouch but it was so fun to watch.
Thank you for posting your video! It occurred to me to get a video of it last night too, but I was just having too much fun watching. :-)
