So I saw a post reminding me about my nj permit for my gliders. But I am so new to this and I already have the form filled out. But my question is.. do I have to carry my permit with me if I have the babies with me? Like what happens if I get stopped by a police officer and I don't have the permit on me and they notice I have a strange animal on me?

So far everyone has taken my word for it. I take mine with me to the vet also. My daughter also has to carry hers with her to all 4H and FFA events. Hope this helps. Only $10....we spend that at the movies.

Technically in NJ, you are not suppose to take them anywhere but the vets and other events like the 4H in a cage. It says so on the permit. So, if you get stopped you may be in trouble even if you have the license with you. Doubt they would stop though.

I have never heard of a police officer stopping someone for having an exotic pet in their possession especially something as small as a glider. I know we are not supposed to have them out at all but I think the law enforcement people here should have more important things to worry about as opposed to worrying about a young kid and their pets while they are in the company of their parents or for that matter an adult having a glider in their possession while they are out. I am guessing if you have it in a pouch you may get asked about it purely out of curiousity.

I saw this post & it reminded me I never got my permit from the state of NJ. I purchased my glider @ The Meadowlands state Fair back in June from TAP & filled out the paperwork for my permit. Rodney (of TAP) told me I should expect the paperwork in the mail & fill it out & it would cost me $10.
I've never received any paperwork from the state nor have I been able to contact Rodney - I tried initially because I had tons of questions, but then found GC & realized my questions are best asked & answered here! So I stopped trying to contact him.
Should I contact the state?

I said I doubt they would stop you.
Lisa, you have to call or download the paper from their site. Nj wildlife and exotic pets permits.

I doubt anyone would stop you as well..
Unless you're walking a tiger with your gliders. Then someone may stop you.

I think a more likely situation would be getting pulled over for a traffic violation, then the officer noticing a glider, and issuing a ticket or something. But, if you are on your way to the vet, that's legal, hmm? Some states have very strange laws. LOL

It is very silly. But when I asked the girls in the office, they said the law was written that way to "protect the public". They do not want anyone coming into physical contact with the animal (I do understand that and frankly do not like strangers touching my animals anyway ). Which is why quite a awhile ago I tried to slow down (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets's progress by getting proof that they let everyone in those crowds touch their animals. According to the NJ state law, they are breaking it. How much would it slow down people to purchase if they were not so quickly captivated by touching them? (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets also doesnt inform the crowds of this law either, which they should.

Can anyone tell me what form to complete in order to get a permit for my gliders? I've been calling the wildlife number but no answer or return call. I need to submit this ASAP
Thanks

I have my permit to own, I have rescued gliders, and have treated and rehomed these gliders. I give a copy of my permit # to those taking them on. So that they can show where they received the gliders from, but I don't know if this is correct to do in NJ?
Does anyone know how to handle this?
