LGRS SUGGIE SOUP RECIPE (2.12:1 Ca:Ph Ratio) Ingredients 1 cup of liquefied fresh Mango 1 cup of liquefied fresh Papaya 2 cups of Calcium & Vitamin D fortified Orange Juice 2 cups of Filtered Honey1 1/4 cup of Plain, Low-Fat Yogurt (kind with 12g protein per half pint) 1 small scrambled egg 1 Tablespoon of Trader Darwin’s Vanilla Flavored Soy 1 Tablespoon of powdered, Dehydrated Fly Pupae 2 Tablespoons of powdered Bee Pollen Preparation 1. Cook and scramble egg, set aside to cool (Could also Hard Boil an Egg) 2. With a blender, powder the bee pollen and dehydrated fly pupae together so it is one fine powder and set aside 3. Warm honey using a hot water bath method or microwave. 4. Mix warmed honey and juices in blender 5. Add protein powder and yogurt to the juice and honey mixture. Blend till smooth [depending on the size of your blender. You may need to blend the rest in stages] 6. Add egg and pollen/pupae mix into the liquid ingredients. Blend until smooth. 7. You can freeze the soup in the large container and scoop out like ice cream. One glider will approximately eat 1 Tablespoonful per serving. i was wondering if anyone fed this, im interested because my gliders dont always eat the fruit and veggies, but man they destroy the HPW mix! So just doing a mix i think would be awesome! Here is the link to LGRS SuggieSoup Whats everyone think?

I don't know of any diet that does not include fruits and veggies, unless it is exclusively pellets which is not recommended. Can I ask, where did you get the LGRS recipe? It has changed a lot since I saw it last!

I have the diet directly from LGRS on my diet page on my site. All reliable, suggested, safe glider diets consist of fruits and veggies.

Here's directly from the LGRS website : 1 cup of canned Mango juice or liquefied fresh Mango 1 cup of canned Papaya juice or liquefied fresh Papaya 2 cups of Calcium & Vitamin D fortified Orange Juice 2 cups of Filtered Honey 1/4 cup of Plain, Low-Fat Yogurt (kind with 12g protein per half pint) 1 small scrambled egg 1 Tablespoon of Trader Darwin's Vanilla Flavored Soy 1 Tablespoon of powdered, Dehydrated Fly Pupae 2 Tablespoons of powdered Bee Pollen 1. Cook and scramble egg, set aside to cool 2. 7. Pour into small freezer-safe containers for freezing use containers that you can put in the fridge with enough to last two or three days. If you have two gliders who will only eat two tablespoons per serving, those containers can be pretty small. You can freeze the soup in ice cube trays and pop the frozen cubes into freezer bags.

Can I ask, where did you get the LGRS recipe? It has changed a lot since I saw it last! Yep, there are some changes made, it seems. Not the same one as I remember it.

Is this meant to be a staple diet or a treat?

Connie, it's a staple diet. I'd love to see an analysis on it.

I have that bookmarked too. I would actually like to see an analysis much like Candy has provided us with in regards to other diets as a whole with total fat g and such. She DID do that with other diets, right? Or maybe it's just something I've THOUGHT she should do since she's really good with diet stuff (it makes my head want to pop off). Who knows!

I also feed HPW with fruits and veges separate. Most of my fuzzies don't eat much (if any fruits). I was considering making the smoothies to see how they would do with that. But couldn't I puree the fruits and veges into a smootie sort of thing and mix it together with the HPW? Much like the LGRS soup?

SugarCrazy - you "could" do that with HPW but the volume you would have to deal with would probably be difficult to manage if you are thinking of making it with a full batch of HPW. A full batch of HPW makes about 130 glider servings (based on mixed volume per Peggy. This is slightly different than the currently posted diet calculator but does not change the ratio and only slight changes to the other values per serving - updated calculator coming soon) You would need to add a total of 130 1 tbs servings of fruit and the same amount of vegetables of 8 1/4 CUPS of each. You can combine fruits and vegetables for several days feedings and measure the number of servings of prepared HPW then blend that together for several days feedings. Most folks that blend the fruits and vegetables with the HPW make a daily batch using just the amounts you need for your gliders for one evening's meals. As for the comparison of LGRS Suggie soup, I have not included it in the diet calculator because, like Priscilla Price's diet, there are many variables in the fruits and vegetables mixed into it to make a real comparison to other diets that are just primarily the protein (with Calcium & vitamins) portion of the full diet.

@Candy - Thanx, I hadn't really thought it thru that far. That would be a lot of fruits to mix. That was just a thought that had popped into my head while reading the previous posts. My fuzzies seem to LOVE their HPW and most of the veges but not so much the fruits (except the melons). I will try to mix a few days worth and see how they like that, then, if they like it, I'll continue with that. I LOVE the little plastic baby food bowls, they freeze great and are small enough for daily servings for my cages.
