Baxter is out of surgery & sitting on my shoulder. He wants to be on Mom rather than stuck in a pouch right now. He came through fine. His lump is being sent off for testing and Bax goes back in 10 days for a follow up visit. He is to take his baytril until he goes back and gets torb as necessary. I am to treat his incision with vetricyn 3 times a day.

I could kick myself....I left my camera at HOME so no pictures of his surgery. I do however have a picture of a very unhappy, but lump free Baxter to show his incision.
http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c221/Glidrz5/Baxtersincision.jpg
The pink around his mouth is either his meds or the remains of his yoggie....not sure which. And for those of you who think his mouth may look funny....well Bax had some dental issues and lost his incisors.

Awe, poor little Baxter. Glad to hear that his surgery went well. He wants mommy time because he is hurt.

Kiss the little guy for me. Sending prayers that the lump is benign.

Baxter got to see his family so that they knew he was OK even tho he can't be with them yet. He didn't get to spend much time with them, just enough to say hi basically, because I didn't want his girls to try to overgroom his incision or pull out his stitches, but they saw & touched each other before Bax had to go back to solitary. I have to say that it really energized Bax. I let him out with me on my bed and the next thing I know he's bounding off and high tailing it into my closet. I rescued him from there and moved him back into his travel cage....I guess I'm gonna need to break out the pop up crate earlier than expected. I thought it would be a few days before he felt like moving around too much.....tho I have to admit in this case it's good to be wrong LOL He did eat his veggies well last night, but wasn't all that interested in his nectar or his HPW mix. At least he ate tho. He did pee & poo for me, so that's a good thing. He also looks wonderful....ears up and alert, eyes bright, fur groomed. His incision looks good too, not quite as angry now. I think my phoofy guy is going to heal quickly.

Baxter continues to do well. He ate well and again got to see his family for a moment. Little Illusion was so glad to see her big guy, she snuggled right up to him and smelled him all over. I had to take him out tho when she started showing interest in his incision area. Brodie & Syddie knew he was there but were too interested in FOOD to fawn over Baxter.
Bax then had out of cage time with Momma. He again bounced off the bed and high tailed it into the closet, but apparently it wasn't fun last night because he came back out and waited for me to help him back onto the bed so he could sit on me and snuggle. When he was finished he bounced off the bed again and went back to his pop up and went to bed.

Baxter is continuing to eat well and has quite a bit of energy....this is possibly due to the fact that he has been losing weight since his surgery. Admittedly my big guy did need to trim down (he WAS 199 before surgery) but at this point he is losing a bit too fast for my comfort as he was 185 this morning. The big guy just isn't eating that much for me now. It may be due to stress from being separated, or the antibiotics may be suppressing his appetite.....either that or Brodie told him that when you don't feel well and are on your own MOM FEEDS YOU!
Well Brodie is right about that....I started supplimenting him last night to make sure that he is getting more in his stomach than yoggies and the chicken baby food he chomped on. He didn't appreciate it, but did seem to enjoy his yogurt and applesauce......my pureed peas were not a hit with him (and wouldn't suck up in the syringe) but Sydney sure enjoyed the ones I put in her cage. I got a few more baby foods that I can syringe feed him, but I'm hoping that he'll eat them on his own rather than being syringe fed. On a happy note....after syringe feeding him this morning he DID eat all of his yogurt.....well maybe he was trying to get the yoggie pieces I crumbled on it LOL

Awwwwww! He's doing so well cause he has such a good mommy taking care of him! I fed Roo organic peanut butter and the oil on top, chicken baby food, avocado, vanilla pudding and HPW. He refused to touch anything else except mealies. Those, I injected with bottle water, to hydrate him. I was able to get an extra 2 cc's of water into him each day. I have to admit, I laughed about the yoggies crumbled in the yogurt! I'm gonna have to remember that little trick!

Keep up the good work Baxter! Brodie wasn't fibbing to ya. Mom WILL 'gently insist' you eat!

BTW, the antibiotics and pain meds will cause a lack of appetite. It'll bounce right back after he's off them for a few days!

I figured it might have been a combination of things Connie. I mean I KNOW Baxter needs to lose weight, I just don't like to see it come off this fast. At least HE has the grams to spare unlike my baby bear who would be skin & bones if he lost as much as Baxter did.
On a happy note, Baxter maintained his weight last night. It was sooooooo cute this morning. My Phoofy was sitting on top of his pouch waiting for Momma to come home. When he saw me he jumped off, ran to the door of the pop up and reached up for me. He then discovered the joys of sweet corn casserole. I have never seen his tongue stick out that far or move that fast. He did everything but chew on the end of the syringe and made sure that he lapped all around the sides to get every yummy drop. He also ate some HPW, some yogurt, and some sweet potatoes....reluctantly, but he ate them. He's sacked out now tho he does have a little dish with some chicken, yogurt and more of his sweet corn on it. Hopefully when I get up tonight I'll find that they have all been scarfed down.

Hey Chris, I'm just now getting caught up with everything. Been out of town since last Wed.

I am thrilled to hear how remarkably well Baxter is doing since his surgery. I'm hoping for a good report from his biopsy!

He's certainly SPOILED! and deserves every minute of it too.

My vet is not sure what is going on with Bax's test results and why they are taking so long. He is hoping that they will come in today.
