My husband can get sheets of stainless steel from his work and I was thinking of making a cage with it. It looks just like the hardware cloth but it is steel. Would this be ok for gliders. It sure would be sturdy. Thanks <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

I use stainless steel feed cups becuase I was told that they are the most sanitary. I think that I've read on another site that you should buy a stainless steel cage for your gliders. I don't have a stainless steel cage for mine, but I think that it is ok. If I am wrong some one correct me.

Stainless steel is perfectly fine as a caging material. The only reason most of us don't use it is because it is too expensive.
Just make sure that all edges are smooth, you can do this by running a cotton swab over every inch of it. If it snags you know you have sharp unsafe areas.

Ok, thank you. I did not think about rough spots. I will check that out.

Ditto on the rough edges, but how would gliders climb on this? How would you see inside? Is the material solid or what? Just curious. It would be fine for the, as far as safety goes, I think, but they wouldn't be able to grip it, unless you are somehow talking about stainless steel bars?

Yes, it is bars. It looks just like the hardware cloth stuff. The spacing is perfect also. I think it would be great because I could scrub the daylights out of it and it will hold up.
