We have an older rescue glider (I think he's about 2-3 years old) who we're having a little trouble with introducing to our younger male. The younger boy is about 8 months old. Tonight I heard the older boy barking and making a "pssst" sound from his cage. Could he be calling out to our other boy? Is this a good sign, or is it just noise? The older male hardly ever makes sounds; he has always been very quiet. He has never crabbed, and I haven't heard him bark since before his prior cage mate passed. I have seen the younger boy make the same "pssst" sound in attempt to engage with the older boy. Any thoughts? Thanks for any input you might have.

My first glider intro, I had the cages next to each other, and they would bark and make a noise similar to sucking through a small straw at each other. They went together easily and have for two years now, so, I'd say it is a good sign!

Agreeable. Mine barked, hissed, and copy-cat eachother everynight until intros. They love eachother smile And our Stitch was never vocal until button came along. I would say it is normal.

Thank you to both of you. It's good to know there may be some hope yet! The description of sucking through a small straw is the exact sound I was trying to describe. We'll continue with the pouch switching and hopefully be able to do a real intro in the near future.
Thanks! I love this board!

Just make sure both are neutered before intros. thumb

Yup, those are the sounds! It's the first indication of any acceptance by the older male. I am happy to hear him make any sounds because he's been so quiet!
