I remember seeing a picture on here awhile back of the inside of a momma's pouch. Does anyone know where I can find it again?

I took Ayla in to the vet yesterday to have her checked for a yeast infection and her's was pink and healthy. At least that is what the vet said, but he did not even know they had pouches , so I would love to see a picture to judge for myself. The inside was pink. No redness or swelling ( one peanut sized joey in there ) but there were lots of very tiny white dots on the inner skin. To me they looked like little white heads or pimples. I got the vet to get a culture, but it will not be back for a little while.

Also, she got really mad when we were checking her and "skunked", after she skunked, she pooed and then seemed to pee some whitish, thicker than pee stuff. The vet was not concerned by it and did not get a sample, but anyone see that before?
Thanks

T, just below this is a post on severely infected pouch, at least that way you'd know what the infected stage would look like. Sorry I don't have any knowledge of a good one.

Okay... Try this. Then click on developing joey in pouch... I don't think it gives much of the color in her pouch though.

[:"green"]Robin,
Although I don't have a picture of the inside of a pouch, I can tell you that what you have described is "normal". I don't know what the white bumps are, but they are always present (sometimes look larger than at others). The pouch should be a nice pink color with longer, reddish fur inside, near the opening.

The thick, white stuff that came out of the cloaca is concentrated scent mucus. This is perfectly normal also. Normally, when it comes out it is diluted & so it looks like urine. Sometimes, it will come out concentrated like that - it's nothing to worry about.

I was (again) worried for nothing. Poor thing, she was still alittle mad at me at playtime last night, but got over it quickly for some chin rubs. I am glad that the vet did know that everything was OK, guess I should have trusted his judgement. Hope I am not this weird when my skin kids have kids

I think the white looking bumps are probably just milk glands. Most female animals, including humans, have them and they get bigger when babies come. Gald that your little one is okay!

Learn something new everyday. Glad your little one is okay. Never knew anything about the pee, but that is good to know. Also love those pics. I don't know how anyone got in there to get the photo, but they did a darn good job. Thanks for such a wonderful responce.
