I guess I am thinking of traditional publishing. I'm going to try to publish my diet study in a veterinary journal. The only other thing I am working on os my dissertation and have to get that published traditionally, also.

Dear PocketPrincess our best wishes and luck for your dissertation. It is a great thing that you will be sharing your diet study in a medical journal. That's very exciting and you should be very proud of that. Traditional publishing requires a lot of discipline and patience so my hat's off to you.

Very interesting article. My opinion does not matter as to whether I support it or not, but I am impressed with the objective nature which you used to observe this. Working with animals, and more importantly pets, it can be difficult to remain objective through the concerns and harassment. I am currently running into problems with my own research involving feral domestic cats which tends to be a hot issue. I do caution against too many experiments unless going through committees such as IACUC or IRB. These committees are typically needed if planning to truly publish a paper dealing with the handling of animals or getting human results such as surveys. Just a bit of advice, so feel free to ignore or use it smile

Brian, thank you for the advice. I am hopeful that the help a few of the vets offered will be useful in this regard.

In the spirit of full disclosure I must admit I am not altogether objective. One of the gliders in question is a pet that I paired with a sanctuary glider. I guess that makes me too involved on a personal level to be objective. The paper is just a layperson's attempt to share some non-scientific observations with vets. I'm not sure I'll be able to make it any more than that.
