One of my babies is really active at night and loves to jump on my arm but the second he crawls down to my hand he nips and nips and nips and doesn't get off my hand for anything! It's beginning to hurt! I don't know what to do. He's not scared of me but why does he bite??? I think I have to just wash my hands with water alone from now on just in case he doesn't like the smell of soap from hours ago shakehead
Any advice?

My Dexter was like that the first 2 weeks. He would get ahold of my fingers and wouldn't let up I actually cried he bit me so hard once. But the more I have played with him he has stopped biting so hard...he does still like to get to my fingers and nip but its definitely not as hard as it was still hurts sometimes lol definitely doesn't feel good thats for sure. Good luck hun I hope someone with more knowledge than me will come along and help...maybe even help me too. I am not sure what to do to make them stop biting but it would be nice if there was a way !!

Thank you Brittany! It's sad because i have to pry him off my hand to get him to stop biting and that's not something I want to do to my baby but I can't get him to stop and it's scary because I don't want him to draw blood.

PS: Nice names for your gliders haha very cute, love that show grin

It can be like you said from a soap smell or even lotion. It is also possible that he is in a tasting and testing phase, just like kids. smile It can be little nips leaning towards grooming, which is good as he likes you a bit too much! roflmao

Or it can simply be to get your attention to make you play with. tounge

Keep an eye on his body language, you will soon see what behavior he displays right before he will nip. You can distract him by using a feather and start a new game, or you can say "Tsssst" each time he does the nip, it sometimes works. thumb

I've been trying the Tssst it works for a moment but I have to keep saying it. I have distracted him with a toy before but now that you say he may want to play with me that makes sense since he is the active twin. He acts really hyper when it's play time. LOL I know his brother grooms me when in my bra but not sure if he has since it's hard to tell them apart just from their faces. I have to look at their whole whole body since ones a little chubby and has a thicker strip hehehe.

I'll keep working on it! laugh

Okay I will try that. Today he jumped on my head and I'm not sure if he did a quick grooming of my head or if he bit me. He did do that little sneeze sound when they groom so I thought maybe...

I totally agree with bourbon, that sound is magic, it transformed my baby in a matter of days. He went from biting so bad he literally left scars on my hand to now not even drawing blood most of th time he is just grooming me now, every now and then he will bite down a little too hard but still not nearly as bad as before!!

I've been using it and it seems to work. He has never bitten hard enough to break skin. It's just like he likes to test mommys limits LOL. Silly boy shakehead

Lucky you then lol, my boy was a very evil biter before I worked with bourbon, one night my whole hand and arm was literally swollen from how bad it was (that was the night he left scars on my hand from how deep he bit me) thank goodness we arents dealing with that anymore, just little nips and he is learning to do it less and less

WOW! Yea from even before I had them and would visit them on the weekends I learned what they liked and didn't like for me to do. I think they love testing us out and pushing our limits but with time they learn that we are part of their pack and that we love them so much heart
