I was wondering, exactly what is the difference between the two? I bought my gliders an 8.5" solid plastic wheel from the petstore today, and was wondering if that would work just as well or if I should upgrade to a Wodent Wheel.

I have never used the solid plastic wheels. Does it have any little holes or slits on the running surface (that their nails or toes might get caught in)?

No, it's solid plastic which is why I bought it. No holes, slits or anything of the sort. Just some little ridges to provide traction.

I have one of those too. It seems to be fine- they love to spin it fast and hang on to the edge and spin around in the wheel lol. But the Wodent weel is safer as they dont go flying out.

It sounds like your wheel might be the bucket-style that they sell in many pet stores. I've never heard of any problems with those but maybe someone else will come along who has experience with them.

I got a Wodent wheel for my gliders when I brought them home and they liked it but I hated it. Because it's so enclosed if they potty while they're in there it gets disgusting. I got a Stealth wheel less than a month ago and it stays so clean and the boys actually like it better than their Wodent wheel. If you ever want to upgrade from the wheel you bought, my advice is to skip the Wodent and go for a Stealth.

Personally, I prefer the stealth wheels...so much nicer when it comes to cleaning. They cost a little more, but my gliders love them, and they are so quiet, and go so fast. The gliders run a few times, and then ride around for free! They love to do that!

The one you got is fine. It is safe. I had one of those, and one wodent wheel, but I switched to a second wodent wheel because my glider couldn't hold on when she tried to stop and it kept spinning, so she would end up jumping off. I like the wodent wheel, because they can hang on and stay in it when they stop and it's still spinning.

Thanks guys! I figure I'll get a stealth wheel after my next paycheck, then. For the moment, Kadabra seems to like this wheel just fine, and he's discovered that if he runs fast enough he can ride it around while it's still spinning. It's a riot to watch! He's gotten pitched out a couple of times, but he seems to have gotten the hang of holding onto it now.

There are a couple that you could have there are the straight plastic ones and then there are silent spinners - The plastic ones witht he piece sticking out in the middle work but they wear out and break eventually - silent spinners are great have no center piece for tails and clean easy plus thay have a lipped edge to hang on! Wodents get squeeky sometimes and messy but they are cute to watch them play in - stelths are amazing and if you have the money worth it!
