i took my babies to the vet for a checkup. vet said they looked healthy and well hydrated. He suggested putting a small about of chlorophill in their bml mix because it will help them with their digestion and will aid in not contracting intestinal parasites. I have looked it up and this is what I found of health benefits: Chlorophyll has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and wound-healing properties. Chlorophyll and chlorophyllin are able to form tight molecular complexes with certain chemicals known or suspected to cause cancer, including polyaromatic hydrocarbons found in tobacco smoke. Chlorophyll is a good source of antioxidant nutrients. Antioxidant nutrients such as vitamins A, C and E help to neutralise harmful molecules (free radicals) in the body that can cause damage to healthy cells. Chlorophyll is an efficient deliverer of magnesium and helps the blood carry oxygen to the cells and tissue. Chlorophyll assists in the chelation of heavy metals. Chlorophyll has been studied for its potential in stimulating tissue growth and in stimulating red blood cells in connection with oxygen supply. Chlorophyll also removes carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide, and has been found to reduce fecal, urinary, and body odor. Chlorophyll may reduce the binding of carcinogens to DNA in the liver and other organs. Chlorophyll may be beneficial in the treatment of calcium oxalate stone disease and that they may have some anti-atherogenic activity. It also breaks down calcium-oxalate stones, which are created by the body to neutralize acid, for elimination. Calcium oxalate stones are better known as kidney stones. Chlorophyll and chlorophyllin may have some antimutagenic and anticarcinogenic potential, may help protect against some toxins, and may ameliorate some drug side effects. Chlorophyll has been used traditionally to improve bad breath, as well as to reduce the odors of urine, feces, and infected wounds. nothing about parasites but it seems to have good benefits. What do you think?? I have not fed them spinach and i skin most of their fruit and veggies (keeps the bacteria down)

It does sound very interesting. This is something I would PM to Bourbon (the 'B' in BML) and ask for her input.
Did he mention dosage amounts or anything like that? Are there any side effects?

It does sound interesting, like something I could use in my diet! Definitely run any possible diet changes by Bourbon. I'd be hesitant to add it to the BML, however. You know, "if it ain't broke..." More than that, if it's working great as it is...

The vet said 1/4 of a teaspoon per batch. He explained that it helps oxigenate (i cant spell by the way) the intestinal tract and parasites thrive in no oxygen high bacteria areas so the intestinal tract is a perfect area for them to thrive in. He said that the chlorophill will not only cary oxygen to the intestinal tract but it helps keep the walls of the intestinal tract clean. I will message her and ask. (and i use chlorophill in my diet every day and i can honestly say my poop does not smell haha)

Please be sure to let us know what B has to say or ask B to post on here about it. Very interesting topic.

I pm's her! hopefully we will get an answer soon! I bought it at a holistic medicine store. You can buy it online in capsuls and liquid, i find liquid to be more effective I put it in my veggie/fruie smoothie and add kale (which is bitter but very very good for you) My suggies do not mind kale if i put honey on it!

sorry i have been away from my computer for a few days, I thought i would give you a little history on my vet. My ferret named button was diagnosed winth cancer 4 years ago. We did chemo and everything with no results. after thousands of dollars in treatment they pretty much told me to put him down. My friend turned me onto this vet who is a holistic vet. As a last ditch effort i took button. The vet started button on all of these veggitables and suppliments. All of it natural. 4 years later he is still alive and well so i take all my animals there. So, this is not a conventional vet I take them to. Don't get me wrong she is a licenced vet. But she leans more towards holistic practices.
