Ya know~ I do think the light theory holds some credibility.
But I also know the moon affects a lot of things. For instance the moon effects the waves in the ocean~ And simialr to ER's dreading the full moon~ my MIL works in a group home and they always have more behavior incidents on a full moon. I would bet there is a good scientific explanation for the moon phases effecting behavior.

I work in a nursing home and was DELIGHTED that my three day weekend was this weekend since it's a full moon. I swear to you that working in a nursing home during a full moon is HORRID.

Mine get weird on full moons... They are "friskier" than usual. Their appetites kinda die down.
I think it might have something to do with the gravitational changes during the full moon...
If the full moon causes so many changes, i.e. waves, tides, wind, weather, why wouldnt it affect animals (including humans)?

You know I made a post someone like this a couple years ago.... My personal experience with my gliders is that they tend to act differently with different phases. When it's a full moon they are more agitated! They bark constantly through the night . They don't eat as much etc. after I made my original post I kept track for about a yr and going back over all the info of changes on their behavior , eating habits and what not . It's defenatly the same pattern with moon phases!! But this is my own personal experience so I can not speak for any one else's gliders :-)

Yeah I kept track and did the journal for about a year, then after I went over it is when I new for sure the differences in my gliders behavior to the phases of the moon. But like I said that's my own personal experience !!!

Bourbon I agree. Anytime there's big changes in weather I notice their behavior changes as well!! I've always thought animals could sense things like that and I reall really notice it with my furbutts!!!!

I work in a nursing home and was DELIGHTED that my three day weekend was this weekend since it's a full moon. I swear to you that working in a nursing home during a full moon is HORRID. My mother worked on the dementia floor at the nursing home and she always new when there was a full moon because everyone acted so strange. But if you really think of it, the moon controls the waters on this earth. Humans are made of 75% water, there is no doubt that the moon has an effect on us when its most powerful during a full moon. Instead of cause a little gravitational pull on the "tides" in our body it exerts a little more during its full moon phase and this difference may not be noticed by ourselves but others notice it.

I've always noticed a decrease in food intake. Though I'm also noticing that they are more agitated. My one breeding pair gets extremely grouchy, and the last few days they have been acting up and I think it's because the full moon is close.

Wow, I won't lie. I have pasted by this forum topic many times, because I've never been a believe in these things for myself let alone gliders. But looking at all this when my lil loves get to come home I will be logging these things. This is so facinating!!! I can't wait for the next full moon, haha.

There is a moon there that shows the phase.

Keep an eye on the Portal Page. There is a moon there that shows the phase.[/quote] Tonight in Malaysia here is New Moon... However my sugar gliders got the all the "symptoms" stated - 1 has been barking non-stop since 1 AM (now is 5.40 AM), the other 20 in the room in different cages are quiet and alert; but occasionally 1 or 2 more will join in with the solo. They ate their meal last night (HPW) at 7 PM, but most (except the gluttony ones) did not touch their food (Fruits + Vegetables). When I approach the cage, instead of coming to me, they run and jump like crazy. I have experienced this situation during full moons occasionally but this is the first one occurring during a New Moon phase. ><
